Thanks for the correction but anyway whatever. The B5 not my cup of coffee too

I hope they will develop a 8 litre hybrid soon. 5 litre B5 is not powerful for a ADD.
Originally posted by carbikebus:Now bus manufacturers also keen to decrease their engine cc.Volvo alrdy starts with B5 replacing B7 and B8 replacing B9,duh.AD also got new ranges of euro 6 engine starting from 4500cc for citybuses.Left with Scania. Will be great if SMRT purchase K360 DD or NUA
Is there a K360 double decker model? How about the K320UD?

If the order is big enough, anything is possible. All variants of the K-UA, K-UB and K-UD use the same DC9 engine, so any power output desired is of course possible. It would therefore be perfectly possible to purchase a fleet of K360UBs for example.

I've joyride the KL K270UB and seriously it doesn't vibrate like our Restricted K230.With K360UD I feel it's more better than the Wrights.I dun mind SBST or SMRT consider the new Citywide LF with 280hp version
Scania buses are creepy!!! SBST and SMRT must not buy scania buses!!!

Then dun board them, I shall say. But apparently the majority of the SBST services are KUB-operated.
SMRT should consider a bus that is hybrid to save the earth and cut fuel cost on operating.

Save a bit on fuel and waste money on batteries and maintenance.Already gas is a burden and what more is Hybrid. You can't operate hybrid public Tpt in sg.Countries like Europe is more suitable cause the demand is so so.Airport ardy reject so many hybrid tractors,Tow tugs and even several ground support equipment as its not so reliable.Breakdown prone.Maybe in 3-5 years time when everything is stabilize then we can consider

It costs a bomb to buy hybrid buses and cost even more to maintain them. Our govt is not supporting the use of hybrid buses unlike countries like Australia, Germany.
Maybe mrt system is better than long distance bus service in 10-20 years time. by the time no need many buses on the road. only short distance service will do, feeder bus service. example toa payoh 235 from interchange to caldecott mrt station.
Actually can differentiate the hp of scania buses sometimes or whether is SD or DD.
Like Scania K230UB
230 is the HP
B means SD
And Scania K310UD
310 is HP
D is double decker

That means A is articulated bus, if I'm not wrong
Originally posted by TIB1138M:That means A is articulated bus, if I'm not wrong
D means DD(Scania K310UD)
A or G means bendy(Volvo B10MA, Mercedes Benz O405G, O530G, Citaro G, MAN NG363F A24, Mercedes Benz OC500UA.)
Only exception is Solaris Urbino 18, no A or G... They use 12, 15, 18 as numbers to represent length, rigid, long bus and bendy.

280hp is way under-powered for a WAB and new DD.

Do you know what is Citywide BTW?
Originally posted by SBS 6078 M:280hp is way under-powered for a WAB and new DD.
Scania Citywide LE/LF is a SD available in rigid and articulated option
Anyway 280hp is underpowered according to SMRT standards (OC is 299hp, Citaro is 285hp, A22 is 320hp )

Which will it be???
There's still hope now, don't give up hope so easily, guys!
Hope MAN Lion City G since it would be an entirely "new" model for SG unlike the Citaros and the A22s.

Citaro Gs are very different from stock Citaro rigids. The Citaro G Euro 5s come with the OM 457 hLA engine with either 299hp or 354hp (OM 906 hLA is NOT an option). This means that they will perform much better than the Citaro rigids.

But they're quite expensive...
Most likely is MAN NG363F A24 or MAN Lion City G...

They should try the O500UA too, though it's a low entry.

They should try out both the OC500UA and the MAN NG363F A24 though...
And don't forget the MAN Lion City G. Citaro G too expensive, Solaris Urbino no connection with asia...

Citaros don't have very good performance going by fuel consumption. I doubt SMRT will get an further Citaros.
I think they probably will get MANs, just because they already have a ignifican number of MAN buses.

MAN provides a good load of tech info of their buses online.
