Only a handful of services are not DD friendly. But they can be improved with better frequencies, especially now the govt wants to put in more buses for better frequencies.
They are planning for the future, by putting more buses and more services. Certainly some things needs to be sacrificed (like bendies), years down the roads when more jams are expected with more buses. LTA can't stop all the jams, but at least they want to reduce it, at least they prove that putting more buses on the roads still proves to be efficient choice over MRT. If not, then why add more buses when the service efficiency never improves? Then in the end how, public complain, waste so much money put more buses on the roads but still buses jam. How government going to explain? This is going to be a snowball effect in future. If they don't evaluate and look into these problems now, then when?
One more thing to add on, the government is also looking into HK model in operating public transport. Our population demographics is almost the same as theirs. Won't be surprised if we decide to go almost full DD fleet like KMB and CityBus in the next decade.
If LTA is not concerned about traffic jams, then why implement ERP and COE in the first place? Then might as well remove ERPs and COEs and let everyone drive and everyday jam for 2 to 3 hours during peak hours. How is that?

Whatever the arguement is over here, the root of the problem still lies with the management of SMRTB. It is due to their incompetency and heck care attitude that caused such chaos and major service standard dip over so many years. Their maintanance levels continues to be substandard regardless it is a single decker or bendy bus, although you see that bendy buses are worse off in maintanace.
If SMRTB can't handle their bus services well due to extensive use of bendy buses, then either they stop using bendy buses because of their way of planning or SMRTB should just close down and let SBST or another bus operator take over.

Which part if 172 routes cannot use DD besides 67/77/171/960?Low branches not an issue cause NEA and LTA can play a part.I understand low height cannot use DD.
SMRT should retain bendies for their feeders which has served them very well for many years. SMRT should get double deckers for their trunk services which don't have any height limits. Retain bendies for trunk services which have height limits like 67(?). For svc like 67 or 169 maybe can mix DD and bendy because not all commuters are long-haul ones and may just want to alight after a few stops, making them unwilling to go upstairs. for trunk-feeder hybrid like 962 or 859, i think its best stick with bendy
