SMRT have asked for tenders to supply Bendy buses or Double deckers buses from 2014 onwards. This show that bendy buses are not banned by LTA. These buses have to be low floor except for last row of seats. They are looking for option in 3 or 4 doors version of the bendy buses..
quantity not fixed as they have ask for price based on different number of units supply.

You're really going to fly up high if SMRT Citaro G really come to Singapore.
If you are SMRT which bus will you select? I will select Double decker bus to save parking space. But if bus like SBS 997A come along I might get it.

I say they would bring in MAN NG323F A24 and MB Citaro Euro VI, all 3 door version.

SMRT also asked for tenders to supply 12m single deck buses. I suspect they would bring in MAN Lion City and MB Citaro C2.

NG363F would be more possible...

Agree with you.
They are asking for EURO V diesel powered high capacity buses...not euro 6...

it depend on the price/package offered....They are asking for Euro V.. so most likely Citaro C2 is out?
I dont see why SMRT doesnt want to take this opportunity to move away from bendies now.
Especially after all the problems we have seen over the years, you would be thinking, now SMRT has a good chance to put it behind them.
Of course LTA would not "ban" outright.
If they do that, they might as well subsume all the PTO and nationalise them because explicit contractual requirements are more time-consuming and expensive! The most they can do is prode them in the right direction.
Like those wrist-slap paltry fines the PTO get whenever they fail the public.
See the flaws of the system?
Hope that the double deckers are Enviros while the bendies are either MB Citaro or MAN NG363F
i would rather have smrt get enviro 500s or MAN NG363F (A24)s. i feel the Citaro Gs are way too expensive for us and that we can probably get more MAN A24s with the same amount of money compared to Citaro Gs... also we already going to have 200 MANs compared to 51 Citaros so spare parts can be interchangable. enviro 500s for those routes with lots of bendies that tend to hog the roads such as 190 or 188 (pests along pasir panjang road)
Hope that SMRT will bring in both Bendy bus and Double deck..
MAN NG363F A24 and Alexander Dennis Enviro 500...
Citaro G also can, but no B9TL Wright please..

sorry.. dun have Euro VI.. only Euro V..
Citaro G
MAN NG363
MAN Lion City G
Which will it be???
There's still hope now, don't give up hope so easily, guys!

Anyway, SMRT also not maintaining the bendy buses properly.. Days back took 1 Habit the articulator keep on inducing noises as the bus passes through unsmooth road surface.
Seriously speaking, lots of SMRT buses have either no interlock, no speed limiter or no working bus stopping bell…
Stopping bell super epic.. O405G somemore… SL say they remove it cos too noisy… Then the bell is for what?
Alighting and boarding are faster with bendies. Happens every morning at Clementi MRT bus stop. 154 and 183 DDs always hog the bus stop for minutes and people refusing to move up to the upper deck.
Yes, bendies are long but alighting as extremely fast from a full bus to empty bus, unlike DDs. Boarding is faster to a certian extent, but boarding on DDs are slower due to people alighting from the upper deck.
Bendies have noise at the articulator when they are bouncing or at uneven surfaces because the below of the articulator is sagging. Can't be helped. You have to replace the whole thing, like what they did in refurbishments.
If I am not wrong the depot can easily disable/enable door interlock and speed limiter. SL can also disable speed limiter on the older models too.
No working bus stopping bell? Because it's spoilt? You think the depot is very free to get the bus back as and when they wish to repair a petty bell? As long the bus stopping light it lit on, it should be no problem.
You seemed to be biased towards DDs. Yes, DDs are better. But no, bendies are not horrible. It is just the matter of it being depolyed on the route suited to it and passenger habits too.
