I do like Citaros(both SBST/SMRT) due to less vibrations and nice Voith DIWA D854.5 gearboxes. But not to the extent of SMB228X mindset. My passion for bendies is also not like clone standard... I think his Citarotitis mental condition hasn't even stabilized a bit...
In fact, he wanted to promoted Citaros but ended up making people dread Citaros.
Now back to topic. 5 more days, before the deregistration of SBS997A
It seems like less and less DMs are receiving bus ads. Showing signs of their last days/years on service.

Let's "chop" off any double deck to have our 2nd 3-axle rigids

Not me, but people who missed it.

Every bus will de-register, it's the matter of time.

Well, every bus has its day, man.
Enjoy them while you can.
SBS997A is gone tmr.goodbye.it has been hard on you
Goodbye 997A. I did not even have a chance to take it.
Tomorrow is the last day of SBS997A on service, which marks the end of the lifespan of SBS997A. It will be leaving, and there is nothing we can do. Not all of us here have boarded SBS997A before, and that includes me as well. Still, let us not forget the times when SBS997A has served us for 17 years.
I don't know if anyone will be able to see it hopefully for the last time. If yes, good for you. If not which will apply for most of us, let us sincerely bade farewell to our only Singapore Superlong bus, SBS997A.

Thank you for supporting this thread with your farewell wishes.
However, do note that this thread will still be open as the DMs are still present yet. You may choose to bade farewell to those DMs especially which are leaving earlier than the others. Also, do note that the original title of this thread is "Farewell to the B10M Mark IV DMs + Superlong", which the moderator has renamed for no reason and I have requested "him" to rename it but he seems to have ignored me. Anyway, do continue to enjoy your rides on the remaining DMs, and note that the lifespan of the Striders and DM3500s are nearing. Do board them if you have a chance and take good photos before you have no chance to do it again!

SBST tried to introduced it in the 90s, and wanted to replace all single deckers with 14.5m buses.
Obviously it failed.

Poor turning radius, passengers refusing to move to the back and slow boarding and alighting...

The thing is 14m SD and 10.5m DD are pointless. 12m DD and 18m bendies do a better job.
Anyway, was 997 the first SBS bus with EDS?

It is the first SBS bus with EDS unless you are counting in those SBS Leisure 1993 Volvo B10M MK4 Soon Chow or 1995 Scania L113CRL Soon Chow.
Goodbye SBS931P!
SBS935D and SBS936B are currently laid up now
