I think we can discuss all short-working trips under this thread.
SBST to introduce 88A and 88B in morning peak.
88A (Hougang Ave 4 --> AMK Station)
88B (AMK Ave 6 --> AMK Ave 5 / YCK Road Jn)
Both services will be operated between 07.00 and 09.00 am. I believe there will be 2 Wrights deployed that will do both 88A and 88B.
88A after terminating at AMK Station, will go off service to AMK Ave 8, Ave 1 and resume service from Ave 6 as 88B. Once 88B goes to YCK Jn, it will go off service and travel via YCK Road, Hougang Ave 9 and resume service at Ave 4 as 88A

154A to ply from Blk 151 (Yung Ho road) to Lakeside MRT during morning peak. This service makes complete sense as 154 is the only service connecting Yuang Ching Road (Blk 143) to Lakeside station, and the loading at this stop along can be around 40 pax.
I am sure 154A will be a DD service. It would have been better if 154A would be extended to Boon Lay Int, as a lot of people go to the hub for shopping / paying bills and other needs.
As of now, I think only 1 bus will be deployed on 154A with frequency of 14-15 mins.
What is so special on 24 November that svc 179A will be operating?

Not sure but it happened in 2011 as well though on a different date.

sbst275 - 179A operations have improved in the last one month. Did you observe that, as you were complaining about it sometime back? Looks like SBST took notice of your complain :)

FYI, it does 88B FIRST then 88A, then 88B again then do downroute at where 88A starts and terminiate at Toa Payoh as normal svc 88.
Ok. Coz I observed at Boon Lay last 2 weeks, 179A came every 4-5 minutes and 179 also came every 3-4 minutes. I thought the problem is fixed.

Thanks for the info. My post was when the service was launched. So was speculation.
Joyriding on 88B & 88A
88B
AMK MRT: 74 pax
AMK Ave 3: 82 pax (before turning to ave 10)
AMK Ave 10: 61 pax
AMK Ave 5: 08 pax (last stop)
88A
Hougang Ave 4: 16 pax
Buangkok Green: 28 pax
AMK Ave 5: 31 pax
AMK Ave 10: 57 pax
AMK Station: 54 pax
Anyone else has joyride on 88 short working trips?

Do you know how many buses of the 25-27 DDs deployed on 179 are split between 179 and 179A during 179As operational hours?
I suggest a 966A from Bukit Panjang Road to Eunos MRT.

Smrt SWT confuse big time.67A fine its good,Those 67W route A ought to change to 67B CCK-Little India 67C Tampines-Little India
857/858/966 should include 857A terminating at Suntec 858B for terminating at Airport and 966A for terminating at Marine Parade.
171 should have a 171A from Yishun terminate at Bt Panjang from 2345-0015.
854A from Bedok looping at the overhead bridge after Hg Ave 2 to Bedok back during Am peak.

they have downroutes before this SWT was introduced during the same time period. Having a SWT would help in the turnaround of the bus for its next downroute trip.
the headway is 4-21 min. there are about 2-3 buses for this SWT as previously they operated as a downroute to boon lay int with 7 trips using 5 buses.
and if 154A is extended to boon lay interchange, it can just be a normal downroute, why need a suffix?

So that people know it is a bus starting at YC Road and not coming from Eunos

Are DDs operated on 154 downroute? I think yes.

Why would you want 854A to do it? It is SBST area - the same route that you are suggesting can be operated by 25A from Hougang Ave 2 to Bedok.
Anyway, I think there are a good number of buses with good frequency connecting Hougang to Eunos / Bedok. A short working trip may not be required.

most of the 7 downroutes (for schedule before this week) were operated by single decks.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:So that people know it is a bus starting at YC Road and not coming from Eunos
the local catchment will know if they understand it doesnt deviate from schedule much and the loads on the bus is not so high. its a waste of resources to have a SWT service that ends at its own terminating point. no sense at all. and not a practice here just because its to differentiate that its a downroute.

How many buses will be operated on 154A? 2?
139 evening peak frequency can be as good as 05-07 minutes now.
At Toa Payoh: 6.17, 6.28, 6.32, 6.39, 6.46, 6.54
With 139A coming in, the wait time has reduced considerably for people. Each bus takes around 35-40 pax at the interchange stop itself.
