TIB676H, the first DAF SB220LT, will be de-registering on 5 October 2012, provided that the bus is not given a 2-year lifespan extension. Therefore, this thread is created to record the lifespan extensions (if any), lay-up, de-registration or redeployments of these buses.
These are the de-registration dates of the DAF SB220LTs.

I doubt majority would be given extensions and some would be given extension due to new ezlink readers. dunno what smrt doing nowadays, installing new readers on old buses. sigh.....
Bye Bye DAFs...
Ugly bodywork, but powerful bus..
I believe only the first 20 units will be gone this year. The remaining 30 will stay till next year.
Remember back in 1995-97 era, not all DAFs were registered in one shot, due to the progressive phasing out of the old NAC Nissan U31SCNs back then. Having the last batch of DAFs registered only in Dec 1997.

Same goes to the Scania L113CRLs. Most of the Striders were registered in 1995, only the last 4 buses were registered in 1997 (2 in September and 2 in December).

Deregistered, not Reregistered...

Sadly. Most likely the remaining DAFs won't be extended as well.
Hope that they get deregistration soon to make way for newer buses,Remember beside high capacity buses SMRT intend to purchase single deckers too.

He also spelt the word wrongly, think his dictionary tried to "(in)correct" it?

Nope, you may still ride it in 2013/2014.
TIB681S TIB682P already de-registered.
Any DAF SB220s missing in action?
By the way I took TIB691M on 172 yesterday 14/11/2012...under the heavy rain the bus air-con is blasting cold and fast. I really wished SMRT would extend the lifespan for the DAFs de-registering in 2013 and 2014 (though TIB691M is not one of those in that batch).

Hope so, because they have powerful gearboxes ,???hp...
I also wished SMRT could extend the L113s too...
DAFs are de-registering because of a simple reason.
If SMRT keeps them for a further two years, how will they meet a WAB fleet by that set deadline by Land Transport Authority?

In the first place, I don't see any good reason for LTA to implement a fully WAB transport. All because of WAB feature, the bus tend to lose more capacity. Plus, having a WAB bus on a crowded svc, you can't simply ask passengers to alight and give way to disabled people :/

I cannot believe how you manage say such a statement. One day when you crippled and in wheelchair you see how convenient it is for you to use public transport instead of taxi or car before the introduction of wheelchair accessible buses and services.

cui, 220bhp.
Seriously they should go,SBST has done a good job scrapping the B10Ms/CRBs/VOB1/LOs/O405s.Its not like last time ppl take buses for long journeys,Now mostly ppl take buses to MRT stations..Premium/Express is an exception.Old things have to go to make way for new..At least the WAB DDs is not bad..
