chionging is not the most important ability here... imo its good pick up with a full load. the MAN A22 and O405s and B9TL WEG2s have much better pick-ups compared to the K230UBs, so its less stressful on the MAN A22, O405 and B9TL WEG2 driver (and the engine) to move a full load compared to the driver of a K230UB. notice how the K230UB constantly labours to move a full load compared to an O405...

and of course, SBST was allegedly offered the Citaros at firesale prices, the same price as the Euro IV KUBs. if Merc didn't slash their selling price, SBST would probably never have gotten the Citaros.

its not really about the speed. its how hard the engine is running at a particular speed. a K230UB will definitely need to work harder to maintain 40km/h compared to a MAN A22. engine works harder and harder = more downtime due to maintenance of bus

Why are your so bothered abt pick up? If you pick up fast from bus stop, and if suddenly there's something esp our roads i.e. in front got signalised pedestrain crossing etc changing signal... how? The momentum can make ppl trip n fall one.. slow and steady start is better... In fact I been noticing how some SMRT SL pick up at zebra crossing... That's how they pick up w/ scaring ppl... Alrdy start to accelerate even when ppl are still on the zebra crossing itself...
i'm pretty sure bus drivers would look out although there are some that wouldnt... but that's in the minority i guess. SMRT reduced the torque of the MAN A22 at first and second gear for safety reasons

sure or not of things being this perfect??? What abt the MAN's ability to slow down?
brakes at low speed rather forceful but better than less forceful brakes that would result in an accident eh?

You really need to answer these:
1. Are you sure that people purchase scania to lower costs?
2. Look up the different prices and then come back and explain the fact that SBST's Citaros seemed more expensive than SMRT's one. If I'm wrong, I don't mind learning why.
"Firesale price".
Hahahahaha
Do you even know when we use such a term???

Again, that depends on the drivers.
The same goes to L113CRL, O405 and Dennis lances. This has occurred countless times.
Looks like we are really going off-topic. We are talking about the preference between low-entry and low-floor bus, and we moved into a debate about which bus is better and which is worse!
Alright let's get back to topic! :)
To me I dislike citaros, front door must be cleared before the door can close. Still MAN buses are better.

On board SBS8551A on 57 today and I realize that the KUB radiator isn't that unbearable if you can treat it as a melody! :D
And the typical classical design of a low entry bus, well you will soon get used to it. Nothing to dread about.
Might as well dread taking SBST since the majority of bus services are KUB-operated :p
If anyone had noticed, some of the KUBs SBST brought can have 2 WAB pessangers while the rest and all the citaros only hold 1?

Euro 4 KUBs have can take 2 PIWs while Euro 5s can only take one. In the Euro 5s, one of the PIW areas is replaced with 3 seats side by side...
And did you notice that...
E4 Batch 1s have no granny seat
E4 Batch 2s have two, located behind the BC's cabin.
E5s have four, located behind the entrance door and the other 2 behind the BC's cabin.

So far, i've never seen 2 PIWs taking KUB/OCs at one time..

In the first place, there were only WAB DDs with only one wheelchair space due to the stairs. Then later WAB SDs come along, 501 Scania K230UBs, 1 Volvo B7RLE, 1 MAN 18.240 (no longer in service) have 2 wheelchair spaces back then in case there are many wheelchair passengers.
Subsequently in 2008-2009, the demand for wheelchair lots dropped and newer Scania K230UBs, Mercedes-Benz Citaros and the other demonstrator SDs have one wheelchair lot instead in favor of extra seating.
