I am not that old to remember routes before 1978.
But I used to stay in Seletar Camp and we had the Jalan Kayu bus terminal. We had Services 70, 71,103, 163 and later 314E/W. Yio Chu Kang Road (old upp thomson) had 73 and 72.
70 and 163 went to Prince Edward Interchange (opp International Plaza)
103 went to Commonwealth (opp Buona Vista interchange)
71 went to Geylang Lor 1 fringe car park.
72 to Old Airport, while 73 to Toa payoh via Serangoon gardens.
Prince Edward and Commonwealth were the main interchanges then with the most buses. ( I counted)
Now only 103 comes to Jalan Kayu.
Changi Point had services 1,2 and 3, now only 2 remains there.
Kaki Bukit had 50 and 51.
Kangkar (Upp Serangoon) had 136, 156, 111, 106, 107 and later 153.
Somapah I remember 155 (did 158 end there?)
Jalan Rumah Tinggi had 62 and 63 ( 1 remains there)
158 end at the old chai chee bus terminal which now has HDB flats bulid there. 156 used to from toa payoh to Kang kar. 153 from Toa Payoh to bukit Merah. Then two merge and 153 extend to Kang Kar before Seng kang new town bringing bulid and the place use to be a fisherman port. HDB reclamed land and bulid seng kang new town. 156 withdraw and number reuse again later. 153 move to hougang interchange. there was 84 also at Kang kar. The only change is 153 do not go to Serangoon gardens now as 73 already served there.
Some people have compiled all the old services and their old routes.
Check it out here.
Much more convenient ^^

Seletar Camp is unique because all the roads there are named after places in London. I stayed in St Martin's Lane, in army quarters.
But there was kampong just next to it, and in the west camp, we had angmos living in landed property.
Sure was fun those days, and the beach was open, so we had a very nice beach all to ourselves not to mention the Officers club where the public could eat and use it's facilities - The British were quite bochap those days.

Hello,
May I ask, does anyone have any pictures of the Old Upper Thomson Road terminal before it closed down?
I'm barely 16, but I grew up in that area and I am very curious about it. If there are any pictures to share it would be most appreciated. Thank you! =)

It was a carpark terminal.
The last known service that terminated there was 71.

Looking at StreetView, if I'm not wrong, the bus parking area were the lots on the right and the car park on the left was the boarding area - cul-de-sac - and u-turn area. It may have been the opposite, but that was the location of the terminal.

I remembered that there is only one Mercedes Benz OF1417 Hawke parking at one time. Seems that there was only enough lot for just one bus.
