  Gee Thanks guys, for all the photos and stories, not to mention the links.

  Wow it sure brought back a lot of happy memories.

  I was telling a friend about you guys (he's a bit older so not so net savvy), we were talking about buses and I told him that don't worry buses here are closely monitored by people like yourself.

  Some ppl may find your interests weird or whatever, but I think it's super fun and more importantly people like yourself play an important role for the community.

  a) You will notice anything wrong about a bus 

  b) You know the practicality of routes

  c) Your observations are an added eye on security of buses.

  Keep it up the good work, I certainly hope some management in SBS and SMRT come here and read about all the good stuff you guys are posting daily.

  My interest in buses has somewhat waned as I aged, but I still keep an eye on buses and routes from time to time.

  Finally, thanks to the posting about the 1 door bus, but there was another model, a nit smaller, Mercedes i think. This bus had only 1 windscreen and 3 wipers. I hated this bus, because when it was crowded getting on or off was very tricky, people actually used to hang onto the poles on the outside of the bus. Stunt bus was the term people used!

  Wow 1218R Thanks for e pics man,Really memories from my childhood times.Those were the days when SBS maintenance are lousy and drivers got heck care attitude and look how thing change today.Btw do you have pic of old Marsiling Terminal and Boon Lay Garden Terminal?Iirc there's private buses operate on JIS with suffix A

  There's one special Mercedes bus with red and chrome hub cover deploy on 246 if I'm not mistaken.Its the only bus with carpet in its interior

  The most noisiest buses that I ever remembered in SBS fleet in the 80s, especially when u are seated in front.

  Boon Lay Gardens ones after the Jurong Int opened became Scheme B Svs.. 247A, 249A, 251A as far as I do know abt it.

  I esp like your photo showing a row of old SBS Leyland double-deckers. I'm very fascinated to see a double-decker on svc 169 back-then!

  Albion Viking is my most favourite bus back-then. I loved the engine sound as its filled with a great character and vibrance of the bus. And my primary school bus operator actually bought 1 of these buses as second hand from SBS! And that was my favourite bus! - CB3664T.

  Albion Viking is my most favourite bus back-then. I loved the engine sound as its filled with a great character and vibrance of the bus. And my primary school bus operator actually bought 1 of these buses as second hand from SBS! And that was my favourite bus! - CB3664T. The original SBS Albion Vikings are manual-geared. The gear is a long L-shaped one, located above the big gear box next to the driver's seat. Later, they are converted to auto-gear.
