Hi, I am very amused (in a positive way) by this forum.
When I was a kid, I used to study the bus guide, I remember it being 30cts, 40cts and 50cts.
My parents used ask me what buses go where. Then when i was older, I would go touring Singapore because those days a students pass allows you free travel on all buses.
But I miss the buses from the past. I remember there used be just a bus with only 1 entrance and exit in the middle - I think it was a mercedes model.
Then we had Leyland buses. I also remember service 153 had a unique model - Berliot I think it was. Servic 153 also unique, the bus would stop halfway and refill at Bradell, something quite common in the 70s, but in the 80s, only 153 did this often.
So is there any website that has photos of buses from the 70s and 80s? Or an old bus guide and is there any place to view them? Does SBS Hq have a museum for these?
I used to stay in Seletar camp and we had 314E and 314W, 1 of the first places to have a feeder bus.
Later I lived in AMK and service 261 I think was the 1st to use a double decker as a feeder service.
So besides any old photos any older stories will be appreciated as well!
Thanks for sharing! Nice to hear old bus stories..
Berliet PGK205 on service 20. Is it this one?
Wow I think this was a much earlier model, early to mid 70s, perhaps? Yeah, I remember seeing this type of buses, but was much younger then to be able to ride by myself.
I'm not from Singapore and haven'tseen such busses. But I like the photo. The bus is really cool)))

I had taken this one before on service 143, I think when i was young. There were three version of this bus. Look at this design I think it look very much like the volvo B57 bus SBS use to had and it set a standard for SBS bus. it had two big doors, like the present sbs bus. Also there was one version the second door was at the back of the bus and other one had an automatic gear box version, it was look like the leyland victory2. I had taken the auto version before service 235 in toa payoh. I think Toa Payoh had the most Berliet PGK205 buses in operation in the 70s up to the late 80s. before leyland victory2 buses taking over most service route.

Does anybody know what happened to this bus after the trial? Some say that it was sold to NZ but some say that it was sent back to Renault. Anyways this bus look kinda modern at that time though. It would be nice if SBS kept it. Another photo of it on svc 3:

190 never had LO2x deployed before. If u refer to the pic above, the bus is actually a VO2x.
Unless u are referring to either LA or LO3x which also did 190 in the 90s.
