Asking questions about that with one junction?
It's gotta be a big joke.
A long time ago,I was walking on a bridge in Orchard,(I think it's the lucky plaza one),I saw 3-4 190 Habits in the same bus stop, all loaded

I agree that it is difficult to spot all of them in one junction.
My point was that it is not like 4x27's together or 4x74's together, because 72, 88 and 854 all have different routes, and I have seen back-to-back buses on all these 3 routes completely packed.
And hence, with these very high loading routes having 2 buses together may not be that bad compared to say watching 2x165 DDs together or 2x143 DDs together.
See my point? Thanks.

It's true, just that you wouldn't believe it.

Because Service 190 has the title of <The SMRT Service which had the most number of buses deployed>
I saw 3 Wrights on 51 bunching together at Blk 2 on Havelock road at 8.40am - the first and third had <15 pax, the second had close to 40 (i think). The first one must have overtaken the 2nd.
Very bad utilization considering this is just half the route and the three would dance together all the way till Jurong East.
On Sat at 3.30pm TIB781L,SMB122S and SMB127D bunched at Woodlands Ave 4. 781L was packed to the door,122S was moderately pack,127D gt myself, the BC and 2 passengers only. Off peak also can bunch up.

Very common since the loas of 190 is mad, in CCK Int, from what I see at 1pm ytd, it filled up the WHOLE BERTH in just within 2-4 minutes. Load just got more when arriving at the first bus stop after leaving CCK Int. Since bus frequency is like 3-6mins...
About 90% of the load was dispersed at TANGS PLAZA.
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:I think that's where 27A needs DDs. When buses bunch up, the bus behind has little or no passengers. 3 mins frequency for a bus is taking up too much road space too. 27A should have a frequency of 06 minutes and the normal 27 of 10 minutes. 27A should be full fleet DD and 27 has to be SD.
This way bus bunching can be avoided while making sure people get a place to sit, and the buses and road space is better utilized.
27A should also be deployed in a way that it arrives (in close succession) before 27, so that people who genuinely need to get to Changi Airport are able to board bus 27. Many a times I have had to board 27A only to alight after TPE and run for the 27 in front of 27A.
27's bunching is the most epic I've ever seen in my life... 2x, 3x, 4x all also have. Best places to spot bunching:

- Before Tampines Blk 938 bus stop
- Compassvale Rd
iris for service 27 is also pretty inaccurate - the arrival timings keep changing especially near airport area. Sometimes 6 minutes can mean 1 minute in real life. Perhaps the buses lose GPS connectivity underground and iris cannot track where those buses are?
tampines 938? that stop dont have the 27 downroute unless you are talking about 27 full route bunching?
if you have the time and not lazy, I would suggest you to head to T2 to board the bus. save distance fare, healthier by walking more (if from T3), and if there's no bus at T2, you can be pretty sure the next one should arrive pretty soon.. assuming normal traffic conditions.

I used iris for 43 at NEX 2 days ago...
Said 36min until next bus came, then just 4 min later a 43 came
27 needs improve is the LOAD, the frequency just nice already.
As I said, main load for 27 :
Punggol Rd <<PM Peak<< Tampines
Buangkok MRT >>AM Peak>> Tampines
Perhaps reintroduce 27B that plies from Tampines and ends in Buangkok MRT? Would be nice.

27A just needs DDs. Frequency is already too good. 27A should be made 27M, extended to Hougang Interchange and should run throughout the day with frequency of 07 mins - that's where the main load is. 27 should run as an Express Service with 10 minute frequency going to Changi Airport missing a few stops in Tampines, where 34 overlaps to go to Changi.
This will definitely improve the QoS of 27 and make the journey more comfortable for passengers. Also as you rightly pointed out making 27 Express, will make sure that people wanting to go to Changi will get a place with their luggage.

Yup, 27 full route bunching! iris is hopeless at that bus stop too... keeps saying Arriving but no bus comes. From personal experience I have found that T3 is the best place to board, as I can always get a seat, and there always seems to be very little people queueing for 27. But it might just be because of timing!

27E sounds like a great idea, but unfortunately I don't really quite see many people going to the airport with luggage bags...
Most times the people who take 27 to the airport are either airport employees or people who alight at the first stop at Changi to change to other buses like 24!
However I would be in favor of such a service - I change buses at the airport frequently ;P

There is a group of people who use Airport Blvd to bounce bus, especially those going to Marine Parade, and those from the north/pasir ris and possibly at the edges of tampines. imagine a VJC student staying in Yishun. take train good? or take 858 to airport change 36? I think you belong to this group?

just happened to notice today... 8720 departing T2 departure ramp... front bus citaro at the next bus stop -_-
I am very much in favor of
27 - Hougang Interchange looping at Tampines Avenue 5 via Tampines Avenue 4, Tampines Avenue 1 (Safra)
27 Express - Hougang Interchange looping at Changi Airport
Stops: Hougang Interchange, Hougang Ave 10, Buangkok MRT, Sengkang MRT, Compassalve Road, Punggol Road, Aft TPE, Tampines Library (Ave 7), Tampines Ave 4 (Century Sq), PIE, Changi Airport and back.
This way those who want to go to Airport Boulevard to transfer buses can take the express service. Those from Tampines who wish to go to Airport Boulevard / Changi can take 34 (27 will halt at stops in Tampines where 34 doesn't ply like Tampines Library & Century Square).
27 (7 min frequency) should be full fleet DDs, 27E (10 min frequency) will be SD for obvious reasons. This will improve QoS and the bunching of buses, too. Most people traveling can get a seat on a long route from NE to Tampines and other way as now the capacity is increased to 80 seats from 30 seats. This would be a REAL service IMPROVEMENT than just adding 1 DD to route 5 and calling it service improvement.
All those who have their influence high up there should bring it to SBS notice. Are you hearing? :-))

Best is to like SMRT, introduce parallel service.
If SBS cannot do anything about 27, they still can introduce a new service, similar to BPS1, but for SBST, it is named 27M [ Parallel Service 27 ] to ply 27's route from Hougang -> Tampines Int [LOOP] and back. While many Tampines crowd near Tampines Interchange can take 27M, rather than take 27. This can relieve about 50-70% of the Tampines Crowd. While those taking 27 further away from Tampines Int, can still choose to take 27. And for those heading to CGA, like what BA said, introduce 27E. Plies Hougang Int > Buangkok MRT > Sengkang > Tampines > Changi Airport Ter 3. It must ply some Tampines stop if not it should just be a new service from Hougang straight to CGA. This should NOT loop in Changi Airport. If not, the purpose of 27M is lost. Best is to make SBST introduce 27M first.

@BusAnalyzer, how about this?
I don't think SBST can do much to the original 27's route itself.
But this definitely helps!
you guys make operations sound so easy.. like anyone can just do it. then what are you doing here? work for them la.
