citaro doors are the one that can be pushed open without electricity
also, citaro doors are the one with more problems (eg cannot close, reopening after closing, slow closing)
SG1198U,SG1199S,SG1200X,SG1201T & SG1202R all license plate removed for unknown reason.
speaking of citaros

-spotted 2 SBST logo citaros with rego (existing ones) inside the building
-spotted 1 SBST logo citaro with "out of service" EDS (for GA?) dun remember SBST got this EDS
-spotted at least 5 rego-less SBST colours citaros (no SBST logo)

Out of service is mostly TT..Go Ahead is a clone of BNDEP SBST except with gung ho attitude.
Another 3 regoless park at Loyang storage area
Woah.. Still got how many sia
Why didnt LTA buy more A22 instead? It is so superior in every aspect, the Citaro stands worse in any way. And it isnt much cheaper than the A22 (if it even is to begin with), since SMRT also has bulk discount what.

Performance wise A22 beats the Citaro inside out,Maintenance wise A22 is notorious for failing smoke test once every 2 years..Many jobs to be done to the exhaust/catalytic areas..Advantage doesn't need adblue.

What about KUB? I understand €4 and €5 ones using VW-style EGR like MAN, but later ones need Adblue.

Even in terms of passenger comfort A22 beats the Citaro by miles ahead since SOMEBODY here is so bent and insistent on only talking bout things that actl mattered to the commuters..
The A22 is far quieter, Much smoother (the Citaro can vibrate like crazy), doesnt jerk like a rocking horse, and ofc has better ac. The only thing I like bout the taro is its yellow lighting but that can be easily changed on the A22.. Besides that same person would probably think its irrelevant to the commuters anyway (the bus not pitch dark can alr wat! Haha)
The later batches of A22s are not as slient as the earlier batches and 138Y.
Taros with plug sliding door and new VFDs sure is good. But give me the old A22s or at least the SMRT spec hamtaros. Greenmons with TTS interior and slient motors?

Still WAY quieter than the Citaro that's for sure.. And yes with sliding plug doors and PIS the citaros won't be so bad.. Ofc even then the A22 will still edge out, just that I would dislike the Citaro less

We're using the basic 6.4L 282hp/1120nm engine thus the slow accelerate..Unless use the 12L 299hp/1250nm like the OC engine..

12l engine used in Citaro G.

Citaro doors are operated by air (i.e. pneumatic).
The front door of MAN buses are operated by air too.
In fact, the only buses using full electric motors is the O405G Hispano Mk II.

Be careful what you wish for...
Why would you buy a E400 car and drive around Singapore with roads mostly at 60km/h speed limit?

Never had I ever complained about the A22 so ofc I'm careful with what I wish for.. Don't mix me with the idiots who would actually have the audacity to call the A22 a bad bus..
Also, why not? In the first place I dont even agree with the 60kmh limit. But even if so. Try riding an A22 and a Citaro. The difference can be greatly felt.

It really comes down to maintenance. Even an A22 will exhibit similar characteristics if maintenance is neglected.
The A22's proposed third door design, if adopted, is going to LTA and operators endless headaches, woes and nightmares. Think about the time taken for the platform to extend and retract alone.

Well the truth is the A22 does feel miles better than Citaro.. So it could only be due to Citaro being a lousy make or SBST doing a shit job at maintenance.
The third door design is going to be a blessing I believe, esp for commuters. Also, how long will the platform take to move? It could move simultantiously as the doors move too, something like the platform screen and train doors opening together. Non-issue here.

So how can you be 100% sure passengers have already stepped off the platform completely before it retracts so that an accident does not happen?
To move both simultaneously is obviously asking for trouble.
