Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:That is another 4-5 years from now. And by then with DTL coming, I assume SBST will also transfer some routes via Tampines road, as so many bus routes won't be required on Bedok Reservoir Road.
But for now, I am talking about speeding the journey for commuters between Hougang and Tampines. Much needed.
I don't think so.
The population along Bedok Reservoir road in future will even be higher, especially so many residential areas are coming up around there in future.

If the bus went to ply Tampines Rd, how are the residents at Bedok Reservoir Rd going to get to Sengkang w/o going to Macpherson?

It will not affect all routes. For instance, I think routes such as 5, 8, 87, 21, 22, 60 will not change. At most 5 will become a SD fleet. 60 the frequency will be reduced and again will be SD fleet.
I think the loading on 8, 21, 22, 87 will not be affected much too, and can continue to be DDs.
But routes such as 65, 66, 67 are sure to get affected. Especially routes 65 and 66. They plie the exact same MRT route. It would then make sense to divert 65/66 via Macpherson to Tampines road (if the industrial / residential complexes there increase).
Since it's been 20-25 days since 43A and 72A have been introduced, any comments from people using these services?
How are these 2 short trips doing?
Do we know the buses that are getting used on these? How is the loading? Post your analysis / experiences if you know!!!

43A doing good.
Seeing more and more commuters prefer 43 > 76/70 to NEX.
43 loading is getting better these days.
Last Wednesday took it towards Punggol from Marine Parade at about 8pm at night. Upper deck was almost 60% seated from Marine Parade to Sengkang.

Wow - that was quite a long route - must have taken you 90 minutes?
Was there any point when the upper deck was close to 100% occupied?

Good to hear that. Are there any DDs deployed on 43A? By the way, 76 does not go to NEX. I think it should go to NEX though as there is no route connecting AMK Ave 3 to Serangoon Station, and I feel many would prefer taking 76 to NEL via Serangoon.
853 can be taken from AMK Station but via Ave 8, Ave 1 and Lor Chuan.
both 43A and 72A uses double decks. and both have served its purpose during its peak of peak trips.
The long queues outside 72 berth seems to clear faster nowadys with 72A in morning peaks

43A seems to be done by SBS3003Z or SBS3105M.
Since SBST lazy to make 43A desto, they decided to use the wrights instead.
Not yet seen any single SD doing 43A yet, though.

they got make desto for 43A, DD and SD.

43A's SD desto may be left unused forever.
Most like once SBS2630U left 43 when it's ad expired, most likely a citaro or KUB replacement.
How many buses are deployed on 43A? any idea? Can someone list the buses deployed?
What happens to these buses after they do the short working trip? Do they go home to the depot or crossover?

The queues at YCK for 72 are quite long. I have seen a whole DD getting filled to the brim at YCK itself. Hence, it is no surprise that 72A is all DD route.
Is there addition to the fleet of buses for 72 or is SBST using the same buses on 72A?
Both terminals see large crowds at night with frequency at 15+ minutes. Barely enough to clear the crowd and at times, fails to clear the crowd with 1 bus.
After so many years, the situation never changed.
Anyone suggest how to improve the speed for 72 or to improve connectivity between Hougang and Tampines.

Just live with it.

1 bus - 3105. 43 got fleet addition due to the shortworking trip.
that bus does 4 trips of 43A before off service back to depot.

1 bus was added to sv 72 due to the shortworking trip.
refer to my earlier reply - and just change 43 to 72, and 4 trips to 5. everything will remain applicable.
the bus used on 72A so far is 7429.

Keep on writing in to SBST

Thanks for the info. Do you work for SBST?

What is the total # of DDs on 43 now? Till last month, it was 07 (already a fleet increase in DDs from 4 to 7).
