lol why new one?
Tibs' Bendy Bus made history when it became the first to ply Singapore road on 16 March 1996. The Bendy Bus is a 17.5-m single-deck city bus. It is as flexible and manoeuvrable as the normal 12-m bus and can take corners as easily as its shorter counterpart. This high-capacity bus can take 143 passengers, with 54 seated and 88 standees. The Mercedes-Benz 0405G buses are equipped with many passenger-friendly, driver friendly and environment friendly features as well as safety features.
The stupid things take up so much road space. When there's one in the bus bay none of the other buses behind can let anyone board or alight.
Passenger Friendly Features
1. Lowest first step height
The first step from the ground is the lowest at 300mm for safe and easy boarding especially for children and the elderly. The steps and boarding area are well illuminated for safe boarding at night.
2. Widest Door in Singapore
Our doors are the widest for public buses in Singapore. This allows for fast and comfortable two-stream boarding and alighting for passengers.
3. Stepless aisle
The aisle is stepless for safe and convenient movement within the bus
4. Soothing Green Interior
The colour scheme of the bus interior is specially co-ordinated to provide a soothing and comfortable ambience.
5. Large and Tinted Windows
Side windows are large and tinted for an unobstructed view. It also gives you a "spacious" feeling.
6. Legroom and Headroom
With low floor and new seat design, the legroom and headroom are among the most spacious in public buses.
7. Individual Bucket Seats
Individual bucket seats provide exclusiveness, unlike the bench seats.
8. Moquette Upholstery On Firm Cushion
The moquette upholstery on firm cushion is specially installed to provide firm and comfortable support.
9. Bell-button within reach
Bell buttons are conveniently located in the bus for easy reach by passengers.
10. Non-slip floormat
Attractive non-slip floormat is used for the safety of passengers.
11. Comfortable Hand Strap
Bendy bus is fixed with 50 horizontal handstraps and 13 stanchions. The Hand-straps are designed to fit the passenger's hand comfortably and to allow the handle to swivel 360 degrees. This allows standing passengers to have a better grip and better body control while standing in the buses.
12. Electronic Destination Sign
The bus is equipped with big and highly visible electronically-programmable destination signs on the front, the side and the rear of the bus to indicate the service number, intermediate points as well as destination.
Its reflective yellow dots on the black background makes it highly visible and easy to read.
Greeting messages will be displayed during festive periods and special occasions.
13. Full Air Suspension
Full air suspension gives a comfortable ride with minimal road noise
14. Microprocessor Controlled Fully Automatic Transmission
The automatic transmission is programmed to provide a comfortable ride for passengers through a smooth gear change.
Other passenger-friendly features include :
three extremely wide doors for faster boarding and alighting and hence help to reduce dwell time at the bus stops
individual cushioned bucket seats for passengers' comfort
Two farecard validators to facilitate boarding
"Bendable" body chasis to allow flexible turning with minimum turing radius required
In addition to the existing features such as demister that clears condensation and prevents misting, sensitive edge doors and spacious legroom, the Mercedes/Hispano Bendy Bus has a smiley exterior and electrically controlled wing mirrors. It also has thicker and more comfortable seats.
In addition, its "Bus Stopping" LED sign not only is brightly lit for easy reading, will also display information such as date, time and temperature. At the driver's dashboard, there is also a "Bus Stopping" sign that would light up to remind the driver that passengers would be alighting at the next stop. The front Electronic Destination Sign for the new Bendy Bus is also different. It is made up of LED and flip dot making it clearer and easier to see.
Tibs latest Pininfarina-designed Habit Bus comes with further comfortable features for its passengers. The features include more legroom with Cantilever seats, easier passenger movements in the bus with more vertical support poles, a brighter atmosphere with parallel lighting on both sides of the aisle.
Safety features include acoustic warning at exit doors to warn passengers that the doors are closing and close circuit monitors for drivers to check that passengers are alighting safely from the second exit door and double checkfor traffic at the rear whilst reversing.
Besides a smiley exterior, the "Smiley" Mercedes bus offers additional safety and passenger-friendly features. It is equipped with the third brake light, cantilever seats as well as air-con outlets for standing passengers.
In order to meet the increasing passenger demand, bus operators in Singapore have tried hard to introduce buses with huge capacities: The introduction of 12m air-con double-decked "Super Bus" of SBS Transit is a remarkable success. Nevertheless, road conditions are sometimes so harsh that the allocation of double-deckers to certain highly demanded routes is not applicable. In this case, articulated buses could be one of the best solutions: SBS Transit and its major competitor, TIBS, brought in articulated buses in 1996. Mercedes Benz O405G first came to service with TIBS in March 1996, followed by SBS Transit's Volvo articulated B10M which started service in late April in the same year.
SBS Transit's articulated Volvo B10M, which is regarded as "Asia's Longest Bus", is 19m in length. It is capable of carrying 147 passengers, with 54 seating capacity and 93 standing capacity. The power is from a Volvo THD102KF engine, rated at 245bhp, posterior to the front axle. It is then transmitted through a ZF4HP590 gearbox to the second axle which drives both the tractor and trailer. It is worth noticing that there are two options for the third axle on the trailer: The first one is a steered trailer axle which is able to support 8 tonnes of load at maximum. It gives the best performance on steering. The second one is a rigid trailer axle, which means the load can be up to 10.5 tonnes at maximum. SBS Transit finally adopted the first option. Note that the location of axles of articulated Volvo B10M is different from that of MB O405G.
After a series of tests and practical services, SBS Transit finally decided to introduce more air-con double-deckers to strengthen its fleet. The first and the only articulated Volvo B10M of SBS Transit, SBS998Y, used to serve on Service 290 before its cancellation. It is now frequently seen on trunk route 18, which is a loop service between Tampines and Bedok Interchange. It has been painted in the new livery of SBS Transit since early 2003.

Hope to see the newly refurbished version of the Hispano Habits O405Gs, probably similar to TIB1105H.

Rims guards are removed, with a newly fitted Mobitec EDS.
And in case you wonder why, it only supplement AMDEP 854 on that particular day only, but still a permanent AMDEP 812
Here are a few bendies found on the road recently on Service 851:
TIB976S: New Mobitec EDS, Fully Refurbished, though engine still quite noisy.
TIB1094E: Fitted with Mobitec EDS long ago, Crossover to 851 to supplement for missing bendies.
TIB1096A: New Mobitec EDS, rims repainted and shiny as a result. One of the buses which retained the President Challenge ad for a long time. Note that this bus has a Hispano Logo on the front bumper.
TIB1112L: New Mobitec EDS, first ad ever since it receives new EDS.
All buses are fitted with new OC seats while these photos are taken this year.

One more bendy kana burnt.
Hope SMRT will wake up their ideas from now and switch to double deckers in future.
Every year burn one bendy bus, how to sustain in future? Their operations always kana problems because of these bendies. If this continues, one day SMRT buses will go bankrupt and close down, like what vicamour said.

You try telling that to the ones here.
A flame war is going to start soon.
To all bendy bus fans, I suggest that all of you guys don't reply to the comments of those idoitic people. They won't stop rebutting us no matter how much we ask them to stop it.
Ignore them, as we continue to pursue our interest towards bendy buses!
