Now that Yishun Bus Interchange and town centre is slated for redevelopment, will we be seeing DDs on the above services when the new interchange is ready? I hope SBST considers bringing in more KUDs and deploying them on these 2 routes.
Possible but isn't that quite a few months in the future.
I am sure people in Yishun area are longing to see a DD in their vicinity.

If 169 was never handed to Tibs in the first place SBS would definitely have placed DDs on that route. It would stand out in Yishun for sure.
39 maybe,85?Current SDs also got problem filling half full leh.Candidate is 39.Hope Sembawang also got a couple of SBST Svc.Hope to see Sembawang get at least Peak hour SMRT svc to Changi Cargo Complex.
Currently they have to shift at 811 berth if 39 were to use DD
this depends on urban development in yishun..are we expecting new amenities/factories/schools to boost the travel demand for 39 and 85 along Yishun Ave 2 and Lentor Ave? Not likely it seems, except for the new condo between Yishun stadium and Yishun Ave 1, but i don't think it will boost the demand for 39 and 85
On top of that, there are also competing bus services from SMRT like 965 and 969 going to tampines and sengkang area
Yishun Ave 2 and Lentor Ave have oversupply of bus services, i would prefer either 39 or 85 re-route to ply Yishun Ave 3, Sembawang Road, Upp Thomson Road just like 169 so that the army camps along sembawang road and tagore industrial estate can be linked up directly to the east side of Singapore
when Sv 161 and 168 were introduced in Woodlands in 2001, the fleet consisted of all Mk 4 Striders and DM3500 single decks for 2 years, until 2003 when DDs were gradually introduced
With the opening of RP and Innova JC, their demand suddenly surges and today they are a big hit among the students. Today 161 is almost full fleet DDs and 168 is fully DDs
Sv 168 is now one of the only 4 SBS trunks services that has a full fleet DD!!
the others being Sv 65, 98, 179 and most of the jurong industrial services like 249, 251, etc
Simpang housing project also cancelled right?
I'm living in Yishun and looking forward to see SBST DDs in my area.
Imagine VSOs on 39 and Dennis Trident on 85.
Currently, Service 85 have 15 mins frequency
Now, the forest where 804 and 806 ply is clearing for more BTO flats in that area. Expecting new service to be introduce in that area..
85's loading confirm increase when new flats at Anchorvale and Fernvale completes..

Recently, i saw 85 SD full to the brim..
Full doesnt mean the service need DDs.Sometimes due to massive jams,Breakdown of front buses,Not enough standby drivers to drive that duty.85 most of the times goyang2 leh.39 should be BNDEP/AMDEP.85 should be full AMDEP.

that's why packed to the brim, not becos demand high
DD is usually the last resort. They beef up the frequency first to see if SDs can cope,
if cannot..then DD will come in

True,Usually SBST & SMRT did a survey based on 1st:Add extra bus,If still cant cope DDs or Bendies will come in.I did that survey for one of the particular company last couple of months.
when simpang is up in the near future, maybe they'll divert a few 85X trunk series to ply Yishun Ave 6 and Ave 1...
just like the service 57 and 59 pattern in Toa Payoh
lol last time 161 got DDs with 15 mins frequency..
yeah..not every route can simply increase the frequency of SD...it may cause traffic jams on certain roads
182, 185 and 186 have more than 10 mins freq also..but DDs were deployed on them
they could simply just stick to SD and despatch their buses at every 3-4 mins
Well the operators will try their best to at least gave a better service,But not all must 100% leh..

Buy 2 axles DDs Lor what else?They can custom order a 11.4m with more standing area at the lower deck with just 16 seats mah.Those take more than 5 stops can go upstairs one.225 with short route ppl still go upstairs why not SMRT feeders/Intratowns?If they think their feeder routes is too short then enhance to ply more places Lor..
seriously whether to use ADD or add bus it'll 1st depend on how much more load that is...
