I very much prefer the Citaro over the MAN for several reasons. Hopefully this batch is the bigger capacity engines.
Please don't insult the KUDs. I believe they can't be that bad.
The N113s were the real queens. 3641 was queen of queens.

There is always MAN and Scania to fill the void. Who knows, we might be seeing the NG363 or KUA serving the nation in SMRT livery

i dunno.... I hope they buy the new model...but according to the article...delivery starts as early as Jan 2013...so perhaps they already ordered it long time ago and only announced it today...
It's stated Euro V so more or less the same as current.Seems Sbst just concentrate on Scanias Volvos and MBs only.Smrt on the other hand will try to find a diff model beside their MANs and MBs.

MB Citaro Euro VI has start production in June this year do probably mean yes.Hope the article is wrong about the Euro V..Keep finger crossed.
LTA, appalled by the conditions of the hispano habits and the 0500C, said to SMRTB
"SMRTB, you all better don't buy anymore Citaros! until you buck up your maintenance regime"
No,They will say stop servicing Singtel vehicles and concentrate more on your buses

E200 is too small. Not practical anymore.
E500 cannot loh. SBS no approve of the bus
E200 will be good for lower demand svc like 84, 403...

But E200 is low entry, not low floor..

There's a new successor for Volvo 7700, which is Volvo 7900
Hope that the new Wrights and Citaros will have different interior than the current ones..

fully agreed.

I would rather prefer to see the new Citaro model with better, quieter and stronger air-con pod.
If SBST purchases 550 B9TL Wrights, it will bring the total of 1000 Wrights!!

Those new wrights can be used to supplement services with high demand but have SDs in it like 74, 88.

Even if they ordered way before this and deliveries start only in Jan 2013, I expect at least half of those new batch of Citaros to be the newer Gen3 ones cause at the current rate of delievery, the new ones will at least take 1.5 - 2.5 years to all come out on our roads. It's crazy to think MB would extend their production of this current Gen2 Citaro for that long, they already delayed their start of Gen 3 Citaro production already if i'm not wrong for quite a bit because of SBST's order of those Citaros you see now.
And I don't think MB has that many current gen Citaros (450 of them) to be cleared, it's not the same as mass producing cars that you can produce 1000cars or more in a month.
Logically speaking.

Basically all those services with majority SD fleet will get fleet upgrades sooner or later lah, alot of feeders have this problem anyway.
Anyway alittle off-topic, but to those that think BCs driving Citaros floor their Citaros to hear the turbos, I think it's highly unlikely. They do so for the surge in between stops to make up for their lost time. Only those passengers sitting beyond the rear doors can hear it clearly, the front of the bus can only feel the surge.
Don't believe me? Go and stand at the front of the bus and try to make out the sound of the turbo when flooring, it's virtually non-existent. If bus is half empty maybe can hear abit but otherwise it's almost impossible to make out the sound. If the A/C is switched on to the highest setting with blower, even with like an empty bus, you won't be able to make out the turbo easily too.

Forever a demo or end up like the Yutong demo for SMRT.
Should purchase more Volvo B7RLE Ah Soon(Soon Chow Bodywork). I find that the B7 are better :x Plus the aircon very good.

You have a point here. So I highly suspect that the 450 new Citaros might be the new generation ones but with EURO V 6.3L engines.

Need to know some techincal facts. Does the Citaro 3/C2 comes with only EURO VI engines or has options for both EURO V and EURO VI???
If Mercedes Benz offered both, then the article might be correct.

Think SMRT will stick to MAN in future. Seems like SMRT and ST Kinetics have a collaboration now. So most likely SMRT will buy more A22s. Future DD model most likely a MAN as well.
Unless SMRT wants to go back to Hinos and UDs.

B7RLE is low entry, not full low floor.
SBST should have bought 400 of them instead of 400 EURO IV KUBs.
3 doors citaros pls!
