It's pointless to keep 50 of them anyway. 50 bendy buses can allow 100 single deckers instead.
From what I heard, SMRT is going to have full single decker fleet in future to improve in their bus frequencies.
SMRT should buy a few DDs.No need 360 to replace bendies but 250 will be enough once DTL phase 1 & 2 completed.Just concentrate more on cash cow svc like 67,106,169,172,176,187,189,190 etc..Sg roads are already pack with vehicles and taxis leh where everyone is fighting for road space.Im nt bendy hater but I'm stating the fact about our Sg road.Last 18 years when I'm riding at 2-3 am u can almost count how many vehicles including taxis on d road,Now ah I tell u 3 am also feel like 9 pm!

Bendies have a higher capacity than DD's,and like No_10_Tomas,,it's also a manpower issue,more bendies will solve the problem

Nope it's not on hatred towards bendy but our road and space just cannot use more bendies so no point keeping it to max 150-200 buses.The current BI structure also ain't bendy friendly.If this is Europe or South America then I got no issues.Japan also use limited bendies for their city buses.

2017 DTL is ready. 2017 is also the year the last batch of bendy buses will be deregistered. At most another year extension.
Once DTL is up, no need to use bendy buses, and some of these services may even be shortern or withdrawn. But I would prefer most of them to be retain with single deckers maintaining the services.

Manpower issue is a problem but SMRT is hiring more BCs from places like China. If government wants to expand bus fleet, they would have planned the sourcing of manpower issues eons back.

The last batch of bendies are deregistering in 2021, not 2017.. svcs 300,804,806,811,903,911,912,913 need bendies... Check out the crowd for these svcs. DDs can't even fit 51 standing passengers..

I think 240,291 crowds is lot more than CCK/Woodlands feeders but still they can manage leh.I ever see 240 deployment during peaks,1st SD full,2nd DD almost full,3rd SD full then come 4th DD half full all within 24 mins span

Not after the deployment of the DDs...240 used to be hell too but not since they introduced DDs and downroutes
