Recently it has been raining heavily in Singapore. Being a regular commuter of public transport in Singapore, one of the problems I have noticed over the recent few weeks is that commuters face problems boarding and alighting buses when it is raining without getting wet. This is especially so during peak hours. Based on my own opinions on the situation, I personally think that this is because of the shelters at bus stops being a little too short to shield everyone from the rain. This is fuelled by the inconsistency in which different bus drivers stop the buses at the bus stops, so commuters have to stand outside the shelters for a period of time before they can board the buses. On certain occasions, some unlucky commuters even get drenched standing out in the rain in their work clothes just by waiting to board the buses. I personally feel that this is a big problem as it leaves a dent in the almost flawless public transport services in Singapore, so it has to be solved in the most effective and efficient way possible. The solution to the problem would be able to provide a happier bus ride home for commuters. Of course, I would still remember to complement the good public transport services and gracious bus drivers in Singapore.
It's more of the drivers.Usually the newbies will only alight you nearby shelter..
So the roof of bus shelters have to extend out the road some more right, and made high enough to fit a double decker. Better to be safe, and make it long and high enough to fit 2 double deckers front to back.
so who bear the cost? still have to extend the bus stop to accomodate those ppl alighting from the last door of the bendies?
then later on taxi passengers will come complain as well.. then taxi stand also need to extend outwards?
I Love Rain !!! Today's rain very shiok !!!
If kena rain little bit never mind what...
Rain no problem, lah. All will get wet a little, even those with umbrella. Just let those with umbrella board first, then the non-umbrella pax make a dash for the entrance door. Been doing that all the time.
Rain is fun.
Speaking of this, I find the recent upgrade of the bus stop outside Suntec Conventional Hall very very dumb.
They extended the kerb outwards towards the road, making the bus bay narrower.
Now the buses have to stop further away from the shelter and they didn't extend the shelter during the upgrade. Now people have to be drenched a longer distance to the shelter from the bus.
The guy who planned this is really a genius...
