Bendy bus's future is likely sealed...
I'll say it...
Likely no more Citaro G... It's going to be a fantasy le...
LOL
Lol u and ur eternal hatred towards them ah..Ask u if they buy 350 DDs to replace their bendies and improve bus svc you still hate them?
bro
COI report.. not I write one...
sbst275 bro, actually disruptions don't occur on a daily basis, so it will not affect procurement of buses for daily operations.
I know but I'm asking you about other issues suchs as if they replace with DDs in future how's your view on them?
I also anticipate they buy at least 2 axles DD powered by MAN to replace their bendies

eh.. alrdy read the COI report...
In fact, as I read on... they want planning to be based on w/ MRT disruption scenario... pretty lengthy towards e end actually...

well... we shall see as time goes by...
2 axles DDs like the MAN 18.240 East Lancs Kinetec us good for them but they can use the 320hp version...In the first place it's wasted to refurbish the bendies. If I'm the CEO of SMRT I will progressively buy at least 100 units MAN DDs first...
in fact the COI report alrdy state abt the issue of SBST buses...
LTA VTL wanted SBST to boost trunk bus sv capacity...
Think it's more SMRT problem,SBST as for now it's above average for both their buses and trains operations.

So DD can do bus bridging???
If can then why SBS never put a single DD on any MRT breakdown???
What if got place DD cannot pass become SD and people die???
Citaro G is better because Citaro G can use for bus bridging DD cannot!!!
U just hate bendy TO THE MAX admit it!!!

It’s not ppl hate, the infrastructure dun allow.
As for DD, you saw how SBST boosted the capacity in the CBD rts with the traffic mess that night. The only way to boost per vehicle length was DD.
But DD is even more useless than bendy for bus bridging during MRT breakdown, DD cannot even use!! How u going to use all SD and find enough SL for bus bridging???
(i) The bus drivers and control staff did not possess sufficient
English skills to take detailed instructions on operations outside
their norm.
hor hor
did not possess sufficient English skills.
want to blame Malays/Indians for not-up-to-standard English or PRCs?
hor hor.
i know a lot of car users have been finding bendies an eyesore and cursing bendies
but they overlook the fact that being a lone driver in the car, the car driver is actually hogging more road space than the bendies
The mentioning implies that the bendies were a cause of delays (significance debatable, but clearly enough to warrant a mention as a separate point).
Moreover, under another separate point, lack of contingency planning and foresight was a huge contributing factor. It is hard to see how the 2 points are unrelated.
I've no idea how binding the report will be, but I see that bendies aren't very popular with SMRT too with the looks of things.
bendies still have their merits despite all those negative criticisms on them
bendies thrive on short feeder routes and have demonstrated success in CCK, WDLS and YIS feeder 300, 302, 307, 800, 804, 806, 811, 812, 900, 901, 902, 903, 911, 912, 913
They are also effective on industrial services like 856, 962, 964 in the areas under SMRT purview
likely worst case scenario is that they may be banned from CBD or other estates under SBS purview and confined only to Choa Chu Kang, Yishun and Woodlands, Sembawang
That point stands only when the company covers enough ground and has enough bus to have redundancy.
Refer back to lack of contingency.
So if shit happens, bendies will be expected to enter CBD and so-on.
So much for the merit of "competition".
but how often will this kind of severe disruption be projected to happen
once every 5 years only..i suppose
that's why SMRTB is off-guarded cos this has never happened before and they never rehearse
In fact they have been more concerned on how to handle a terrorist attack...LOL...
Even SCDF crew have to be more 'on the ball' than the SMRTB contingency team
The theory says that having different types of buses helps improve flexibity.
The reality can't be further.
Having different types creates complexities and operational nightmares with the company likely to be failing to excel in all aspects.
Both companies therefore had to choose between bendies or DDs.
Just look at depot facilities for starters.
SBST's 997A parks outside of the usual lots while on rare days it is seen parked properly, it takes 2 lots. 998Y and 999U had their proper lots at Tampines. At the side of the road.
SMRT can't take DDs in the depots, and their bendy situation is at best, spilling out, or at worst, just chaotic.
It appears that SBST's decision was the wiser one. Of course, it wasn't SMRT's decision for bendies, but it was stuck with them anyway.

You do realise that what you project here, therefore fails as a contingency plan?
Orchard floods once every 50 years => nothing should be done.
Disgruntled international neighbours are not too common => scrap SAF.
?!
