22 SBST foreign bus captains resigned

Unhappy over pay revisions, 22 foreign bus captains from Bedok and Jurong East have resigned within a month. According to insider, local bus captains had a pay raise of $225 while foreigners recieved $70 to $150 pay rise. Foreign drivers are unfamiliar with local roads and therefore face more stress. These factors and the lower wage increment caused them to tender their resignations.

Resign Lor for all I care,Theyre So ungrateful nowadays always demand more whatever local get.They forgotten that our basic salary are excluding cpf etc.We bring back $2000 they earn $1780 haven't convert to their currencies siol.Back in their land they're using Volkswagen car and terrace house mind you even only 6-7 years working in Sg,Govt always give them too much face.Look at airport now who is rich who is poor..Basket

I think all these foreigners starting to wise up now.
They compare with the locals and start asking why they need to be cheaper better and faster.

they should drive buses back in their homeland. surely they will be paid more because they are familiar with the routes there.

I think the local employers should wise up.
Now they have employed whole bunch of cheap foreigners.
One day if they are not happy with the low pay, they can all boycott and strike.
It is a price that the SMEs and the "shameless talent" have to pay.
The foreigners are not as stupid and dis-united as the local.
If they put on a country-wide strike one day, the singapore economy will be GONE.

They think $225 rise is big deal?Our cost of living etc leh?For d past 10 years you compare salary rise and all the basic things that increase all not tally one.And airport bonuses is getting lesser n lesser each year Thanks to all the FT whom spoilt the market.

Actually, it is not the foreigners that spoilt the market.
Who open the gate for them to become PR ?
Who employ them cheap cheap ?
All ah kong companies.
One of them celebrating their independence day this weekend.
That is how screwed up Singapore have become.

Sadly those resign is majority Malaysian.They forget their roots Liao,They bring back $1750 exc Off day Werk and Ot convert them to RM?Everyday take cubchai to Werk,Cig and food to Werk plus $4 entry fee to SG still greedy is it?They think they resign SBST cannot operate is it?They forgot that some technicians,Trainers can also drive buses too

The world knows Sg intended strategy to drive economic growth
by capitalizing on blue-collar foreigners supposedly low wage demand
or else how do u think this nation can achieve a GDP per capita that is 3rd highest in the world
unfortunately this unorthodox strategy won't sustain for long

Give them Citaros to drive and they wont resign!! Citaros are comfortable and easy to drive!!!

For heaven sake, the driver are here to make a living.
If they feel that the pay is too low, they are free to resign.
No need to scold or make fun of them,
Nothing to do with whether the bus is easy to drive or not.
Not every bus driver is a bus fanatic.
Maybe all of you should be applying for the vacant post since all of you love the buses so much.

does the bus operators foot the accomodation for china bus captains? Also to note that the bus operators are spending more effort and time to train foreign bus captains; according to newspaper articles up to 18mths? Also they are spending to edcuate them basic English too? If these the case, I think its fair that locals/PRs earn more. (pls don't be mistaken I'm discriminating them. In fact, I encounter some China bus captains who are really well-mannered and good drivers/employees.) btw, I think get some Filipino bus captains would be good. I have good impression of them working in the service industry. (eg nurses, waiters, etc). And they speak and read English. So driving, undergoing training and working shouldn't be a problem.

ever took bus driven by Filipino. Citaro on 53 back in Dec 2011.
