88 deserve full fleet DDs

Disagree. In fact, they became worse after taken over by SMRT.
Giving SBS northwest services to SMRT in fact is the worst decision made by LTA ever.

I Agree with vicamour

I think that the 3 Kubs from 88 can use to replace 72's DM3500 but both of it got ads...
Then 4 DDs will come in, either Wright or CDGE or V03x Batch 2, but since it is a WAB slot, Wright or CDGE would be great.
From the discussions so far, the high loading routes are:
27
74
88
147
190
High loading routes mean, routes that have high occupancy levels in off-peak hours, and filled to the brim during peak hours.
Suggestion on 74, 88, 147: Full fleet DDs required just like 65, 168
Suggestion on 27: 27A should be made 27M and operated full day or at least during peak hours as DD looping at Tampines Ave 4/5
Suggestion on 190: Since it cannot be made full bendy service as clubing of buses can create havoc at Orchard Road, SMRT should deploy DD earliest on this route, or it should be handed over back to SBS.
172 needs full fleet DD. High demand for 172 at Jalan Sungei Poyan area
Why must sungei poyan?Your family live there is it?

I have taken svc 27 many times around 8PM-9PM in weekdays and I can say that all the buses during this time are crowded to the brim. Other than that during the weekends svc 27 can be quite crowded at times.
However my suggestion for 27 is that SBS introduce another route from Tampines Int to Sengkang Int(where most of the crowds have left the bus) as a duplicate. It should follow svc 3 route for a stop(Opp Tampines Stadium bus stop) then follow svc 27's route all the way and end at Sengkang int. With this extra buses are not needed to do extra trips during peak hours and svc 27A can be withdrawn. DD should be deployed on this new route to handle the crowds. So what are your opinions about having this new service?
Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:It really needs DD on 190. If SMRT cannot do it, the service should be handed over to SBST again. They will do a good job.
Agree. We all know the problems with 190 and the solutions to fix it. However due to some incompetent transport ministers or some one connection with Temasek. SMRT will have to run this route and utilimately the consumers will suffer in silence. That is the fact of life here.

One suggestion : Extend service 3 to end at Sengkang Int or loop it. Can somewhat relieve the 27 crowd.

Not only it does no help, ends up Pasir Ris has no bus links to Punggol.
For what?
You got think of the implication to the no of displaced commuters?
I guess like this then amend 27 to Punggol, then 3 to Sengkang lor..
88 2 SDs enough..89 100% DDs.
Sv 89 lol
off peak duration routing is ok. peak hr it's not effiicient anymore

I tend to agree with you. I would suggest to loop 27 at Tampines Ave 4/5 and use a full DD fleet for it, and introduce another route say "47" that will connect from YCK to Changi Airport via Sengkang on lines of 27 with a frequency of 15 minutes. Seeing the response, the frequency can be increased / decreased.
The voes on 27 are increasing and a SD deployment makes the ride extremely uncomfortable. There are upto 30-35 standees cramping up and sweating. Very unpleasant. We cant even deploy bendy due to turning restrictions at Changi.

I would say 88 and 89 - no SD is required. It can be a full DD fleet.

Who want to take 3 from Sengkang/Punggol to Tampines ???? waste time only..

I agree. Taking 3 from Punggol to Sengkang doesn't make sense, because no one will take it due to time/cost on account of Punggol loop. The voes on 27 will remain.
Have you seen what MAD rush it is at AMK Ave 3 bus stop during peak hours 5.30 - 7pm? I was observing that there was a 165 and 132 that came almost empty and were filled to the brim. The BC had to stop people from entering at one point. 74 and 88 came and already were quite full, adding to the pains. Then within a minute 25 and another 74 came and relieved the crowd.
Within 5 minutes, it took 6 DDs to relieve the crowd.
This is what I call HIGH loading...

yes. this is the problem with Punggol & Sengkang. you cannot go on either side first then go to the other then join TPE. and that's why service 85 also like.........
