now they're all taking 89 to sengkang/hougang and still reach earlier than first PM peak 89e.
89 faster than 89e?
89 by the time reach downtown east, full already.

if you end work at 5.30pm, will you wait 21mins for the first 89e? or grab 89 that comes first?
Originally posted by service_238:actually need to refine the meaning of high loading.
does it mean how packed the bus is for a certain stretch?
or high ridership?
if the definition if the first one, alot of services can make into the list. but top 5 can vary on how long by distance the packness of the bus is, or how frequent (peak and/or off peak) the bus is packed.
if definition is by the second one, it is easier to state top 5.
You are absolutely right. With high loading bus routes, it should be buses that have high loading throughout its route as well as during non-peak hours. These must be the most profitable routes for SBS or SMRT.

You sure boh?
Svcs 76,132,231 crowded?
hahahaha. LOL.

76 is crowded only in one direction between AMK Avenue 3 to YCK (30% of its route). Again its loading depends on whether a 70 or 43 is right ahead of it. If not, the loading can be very high on the entire route.
132 - crowd has reduced over the last few months. High # pax between Henderson road & Redhill and then from AMK Station to Hougang Ave 2.
231 - hardly any... apart from few timings during peak hours.

profitability needs to be calculated on how each bus earns the revenue. If its going by fare upon tap out (and tap in without tapping out), this would mean that the more people originate their first trip on this service, the more revenue this service may potentially earn.
You can straightaway conclude feeder services might have an advantage on this, but dont forget during PM Peak, the revenue can range from 1c to 10c, with a small number of 73c fares.
This would mean that services that ply on expressways would need more people to have their first trip recorded on these services (i.e. 161 168 190 700 960 965 966 969) for them to maximise revenue.

231 now has 3 sections of its route that has a higher loading.
1. Toa Payoh to CHIJ (Toa Payoh)/Phillips
2. Lor 5 to Braddell MRT
3. Braddell MRT to Phillips.
however all 3 sectors won't hit capacity unless theres under provision of capacity.
88's load is getting crazy by the day. Today at non-peak hours, the bus was standing. Very rare to see this.

Yeah. It was really weird. Same to 325 today. Off-peak hours normally not much people board at Int one. But today long queue

Quite common actually. Btw, DD or SD ?
But 325 is at least a SD. This was a DD at about 3pm today afternoon.
You can hardly or rarely find a 325 with full load, even when both Hougang Sec and Pri was released at the same time.

Quite common? Which are the other DD buses you see full during off peak hours (like 2-4 pm) in the afternoon. Yes 179/199 are two of them but they serve the student community at Nanyang, hence afternoon load.

Which part of the route?
A few days ago, a traffic jam occured on Lor 4 Toa Payoh, causing 88's time to be delayed. You can easily see 88 coming in twins - all filled to the brim, even when both are DDs.

I took the bus at Toa Payoh Int (around 50 pax) and then at Lor 6 it filled and was 80+ when I got down at Bishan road. I feel 88 load is more after AMK. Hence, was surprised.
I bet that when Hougang Point/1 is reopened, the load of svcs 72, 109, 159 and 325 is going to be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy higher than usual.
112? Nope, all stolen by 325

88's load will be much higher when reaching AMK Stn. Normally on that stn, many buses following the 88 will honk or just drive away...

What is Hougang Point 1? New Shopping mall?

How is the loading of 88 on TPE towards Pasir Ris in the morn, afternoon and eve? Any idea?
Is the load around NS Line and NE Line or does it go all the way to the east?

No... Hougang Point... The stupid developers renamed it as ''Hougang 1''. Totally sucks. I prefer calling it NTUC/Hougang Point. Ever since Hougang Point went down for construction last year mid-June, the load of all those above mentioned went about 20% lower than usual. The shopping mall is set to be opened by [ I think ] 1st July.

I never take 88 from Sengkang to PSR. You have to ask someone else since I hardly travel to PSR/TAMP/BEDOK/SIMEI area.

Come on... Are u meaning to say one shopping mall can increase the bus load on 4 routes by 20%? Unless there is a new HDB complex or big commercial complex coming, the loading doesn't go up by that much.
