Again it's their mentality 74 is student svc,School holidays? They would rather throw DD on Premium or basic svc that bypass city,Factories etc $$ more leh
Sekali later 74 last to be WAB...
Looking at the past and current events, its not hard to see that coming.
190,88,74,168,161,59 during peck hours,8,143 no need too many.

Svc 8 DDs are always full during peak hours. Look at the morning load at Toa Payoh or the evening on way back.

Svc 8 loads are almost the same as 65 along Ubi industrial estate.
65 is another high loading one, since the 80s. 30 years on still almost full DD fleet.
Although 8 it's a short route less than 20km per direction the loads are justified to be dual depot control although BRBP can solely control.
BPS1 & 971E can consider high loads or not?Everytime I see got standees one

Back in 2001, when 165, a then fellow high-loading service threw out its VO2X and 0305s, I thought 74 would do the same.
We knew what happened after that don't we?
74 became the last cross-country VO2X service.
165 should transfer some of its double deckers, 2 to 3 to 74 instead.
74 really needs more double deckers than 165 now.
Does 74 still do downroute from Ngee Ann Poly nowadays?

As of a few months ago as I have seen, yes.
74's need for full DD can't be emphasised more....I believe as far as trunk service is concerned, its off-peak loading matches most service's peak loading.
And its peak loading demands nothing less than 7 min frequency, which explains frequent bunching due to all the traffic jams.
SBST's insistence on mantaining a few B10Ms on that service is perplexing because everytime that happens, half the time, some unlucky bloke cannot board the bus.

74's loading on the opposite side is not high. If SBST wants to continue with a few B10Ms, it should plan in a way that in mornings, SDs ply during peak hours between BNV - HG and in the evening from HG-BNV. During non-peak hours, I am indifferent.
165s loading is very high between AMK - HG, otherwise not much.
I feel even the loading on 132 and 153 has really reduced over the months. So many DDs not needed. Shift some to 2, 100, 135, 163.

Svc 8 has some parts of its route parallel to 65 but Toa Payoh - Macpherson and again Tampines Ave 1 are all high loading areas.
I still did not understand why SBST introduced DDs on 90. It has parallel route with 8 until Airport road junction - rather deploy more DDs on 8.
