Actually the fleet in 2005 when I got into this hobby was: 611M 663M 730C 841R 858T & 870G.630H was replaced by one of those missing from your list I think. Plus, there are many other SP Mk3s that came into 359 here & then to replace the ex-perm 359 Mk3s that went to Sv 291 (for 663M), Sv 222 (730C, then later 870G) and Sv 2 (611M). Like 635U 633A 876R 809K all came into Sv 359 along the 7 years since 2005, mostly before the KUBs arrived.
841R was the first among the fleet of 2005 I mentioned to be de-registered. IIRC it met with an accident, laid-up for a year, then de-reg without coming out of laid-up, somewhere in 2007-2008 that period.
Thanks for your clarification! :)
Took my last MKIII trip on Wednesday on SBS879H on 358.
Gonna miss them as these buses have been with me for the past 19 years. Still remember the first MKIII trip on service 13 on 1993, and on the Sentosa services A and C in 1992. They were the first single deck air con buses with dark tinted windows and horizontal overlapping winscreen wipers. They were also the first bus to have a interior thermometer and the last model to have felt material-ed air con boards.
These buses have been part and parcel in my life as my bus trips mostly in the eastern, northeastern and southwestern bound services. I also miss the times when MKIIIs still serve northwestern services when CCK, BB, BP were under SBS, with services like 5, 61, 184, 185, 190, etc.
How time flies, and I will miss them forever.
They were the:
- 3rd modern Duple Metsec buses after the MKII and O405s
- now the 3rd last Duple Metsec buses after the MKIV DM3500 and Tridents
- Last to use and fit square metal destos
- First single deck air con buses with dark tinted windows and horizontal overlapping winscreen wipers
- 3rd bus model with dark tinted windows to be deregistered after the Darts and Soon Chow MKIV B10Ms
- First bus models to use for Sentosa services under SBS Leisure in 1993
- 3rd B10M model to be deregistered after the MKIIs and Soon Chow MKIVs.
- 3rd B10M model to be registered in 92-93, after SBS9C and MKIIs.
Will miss the unique front wheels and full seats layout for these buses.
Now still left with around 465 B10Ms left...
