This thread is made for people to share their memories with MkIIIs for the past 20 years.
My Farewell Speech to my beloved MkIIIs :
Been serving since 1992/1993, they are supposedly to be retiring in 2009/2010 for the end of their lifespans.
Just lucky enough, LTA extended the limit of lifespan of public buses to 20 years.
SBST made use of this opportunity and extended most of the MkIIIs to 19 years.
But sadly, all of them are departing tomorrow as their 2 years lifespan extention will be officially over on 07.06.2012, 0000h.
They are the second batch of Volvo B10Ms massively brought in by SBST, with the first being the MkIIs, with some of them being CACs and NACs after some of them are progressively converted into air-con buses.
The MkIIIs came in fully OAC.
They are also one of the first few buses to have their rear headlights to be vertical, with the MkIIs being horizontal.
Along with the MkIIs, the MkIIIs will be the final generation of buses that continues to use square side destos.
With is being gone, the only ones left using them will be buses with EDS that are unable to display W/G like 410W/410G [ Though 410G/W is programmed, I'm just using it as an example ].
Still, the MkIIIs also had a unique seating - the seats are arranged unevenly, with ups and downs.
Unlike the WAB buses like K230UB and Citaros, whose the seats are lined up straightly on an angle, the seat on top of the rear axle is the uneven one.
It is also the last few buses without standee area with the Volvo MkIVs.
Once a common sight on the West and North-East, only able to be seen in photos after tomorrow.
Why the big deal?
The MkIIIs is one of the most important buses brought in after the Mercedes Benz O405 and Scania N113CRB.
They pumped in the large numbers of SDs fleet in SBST.
Now, it is currently dominated by Scania K230UBs.
From tomorrow onwards, MkIIIs in Singapore will walk into history.
And now, we are grateful for it's 19 years of service and serving 160/170/170X.
Farewell SBS582M - SBS881A!!!
May you be remembered in our minds. You will be dearly missed.
[ This forum, you can post your farewell speeches and photos. ]
[ Photos are strictly restricted to MkIIIs unless the photo also contains another bus. ]
[ You can also post interior photos of MkIIIs ]
You need to:
1) learn how to summarise your points better
OR
2) paragraph your points.
seeing a wall of text puts me off completely.

Farewell
Always took SBS815S on 89 last time to school. Mk3 is the last one to use the old bell and the old type of bench seats. MKIV use the newest type of bench seats

Yeah. The MkIV uses ''m'' bench holders while MkIII uses ''n'' bench holders.

No problem
Still remembered the days when SBS637P, SBS771J and SBS807R were perm BN 31 together with those BR O405s..
I used to sigh when I see the SDs come my way in the morning because it means that I'd very much be unable to board the bus, haha (The nightmare of secondary school students along that Tanjong Katong belt). The BCs would always stand up urging people to move in or squeeze so that more can board. Not to mention the TV mobile simulcasting Channel Newsasia's Primetime Morning on the ultra packed morning rides. Those were really the days.
Then came along SBS876R which I forgot kicked out which other Mark III and that time I didn't know that this incoming bus was a special one. As I moved on beyond O's, I almost stopped taking Sv31 and its bunch of Mark IIIs in the morning as the ride would take too long (although 31 does go to where I need to go). Mark III rides became occasional since then as I'd always end up with the VO/VSOs. Nevertheless, these SDs were constantly present throughout my schooling days. Thank you for your service, Mark III, and also the very much missed O405s.
Oh ya, my last Mark III ride was SBS856Z on Sv197 7 days ago.
Mine was SBS880C on 325 before it went missing. It was like a week ago.

Farewell SBS879H! LAST surviving Volvo B10M Mark3 is SBS876R!
service 21 was the first service which mk 3 were first deployed
If i remembered correctly, this route was introduced in 1992 from Pasir Ris to Geylang Lor 1, the moment it was introduced, they used the new Mk 3 buses

By starting a new thread about MK3 you are trying to seek attention. What is your true motive???
I do not feel like replying to that bastard.

And by spamming Citaros everywhere possible in this forum, aren't you doing the same thing, only on the negative side?
