not surprising since they copy much of anything & everything.

If Singapore adopts this type of bus, I think the mandarin standard of Singaporeans will improve.

Not only copy SBST livery, the front looks like a MAN bus

from the pics, the bus seems short in terms of length so is it the china version of the dennis dart which used to be on svc 42.

Service 42 don't need midi buses anymore. A normal bus will do -

ideally, 42 should use midibut it's only if SBS keeps a sizeable fleet for other svs like 403 etc..

which those big big cars parking anyhow, imho it would be ideal for a shorter wheelbase bus like the dart so that it can move around much easier.

Aiya, seriously many of the Chinese saying we use here is literally translated by the mix of dialect and English...I tend to suspect the use of PRC term is also due to the fact that they want standardisation esp on city & country names...
The real mess up they did is not Language actually... It's the basics of teaching the kids properly and not treat studies just to be remembered for exams..

Seoul's case is more of South Korea wanting Chinese language users to use a phonetic-representation of the Hangul name of Seoul and not 漢城 Han Cheng which hints of Chinese relation. Not the same as Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and the list goes on... Apparently the PRC wants to enforce standardisation and we are so tamed to just follow suit..

澳大利亚 is the name of the country just as 美国 is too.
The geographic area that 澳大利亚 is located in is 澳洲, just as 美国 is in 美洲/北美洲.
But because Australia pretty much takes up the almost the entire continent, people started refering it as 澳洲 too. Don't mix up the actual meaning of the words.

mmmSaudi's case we alrdy call it by it's literal translation all these while, one of the special cases... In fact most of the Mid East countries we use the literal translation.

People here dun even say 'mei zhou' or 'bei mei zhou', most would say Canada or US.
Australia is the special case, same goes to New Zealand...
Or Sydney, we say by the literal translation xi ni..
