103 never have bendies before to my knowledge. It's 82 that have bendies.
And did 113 even call at Serangoon Interchange?
103 HAVE. The time when it was taken into SMRT? But it was camoes then.
Quoted from SgWiki :
This svc originally ply between Jln Kayu terminal and Buona Vista terminal, via Outram Rd, Tiong Bahru Rd and Margaret Dr.
Shortened to New Bridge Rd terminal in 1993, with the amendments of services 5 and 32.
Handed to Tibs in 1995, which has no route change. Handed back to SBST in 1999.
On 15th July 2001, it was amended to ply Yio Chu Kang Road and Boundary Rd instead of Yio Chu Kang Link due to upgrading of the junction of Boundary Road and Upp Serangoon Road into a multi-tier flyover.
On Sunday 07 Dec 2003, shortened to Serangoon interchange and merged with services 378 and 379, under NEL rationalisation phase 3, on which Service 103 will ply from Serangoon Int to Picadilly (Loop).
From Sunday 1 July 2007, Bus Stop 68071 (before East Camp Gate) is relocated & Bus Stop 68079 (after East Camp Gate) is abolished along Piccadilly Road.
On 13th Feb 2011, Service 103 & 103M was merged to form Service 103. It calls at 14 new bus stops along West Camp Rd & Seletar Aerospace Dr. At the same time, the bus stop at Picadilly was abolished and the permanent removal of the partial section of West Camp Rd.
On 3rd Sept 2011, with the opening of the new Serangoon Bus Interchange, Service 103 was amended to Upp Serangoon Rd instead of Serangoon Central.
Handed to TIBS. Bendys were deployed on it before.
But on SgWiki, only Hispano OACs were deployed on it before.

Sbst is smart in deploying DDs on 222,240,241,291,334.Just look at d loads..
Don't look at it. Just look at the route and you will know.

Tell me the regos of the bendies that cameoed on 103 during its TIBS times.
Handed over to TIBS does not mean it has bendy perms (like 865, 866, etc.)

Originally posted by BusAnalayzer:Do we think SBS Transit is making optimum utilization of double decker buses? What is the criteria used to deploy Double decker buses?
I feel some routes like 97, 151, 153, 166 do not deserve to be double deckers as they do not have more than 30 people at most times (166 gets full only between Little India & Ang Mo Kio).
There are routes like 16, 33, 63, 195 that have a heavy patronage but are only SD and DD are not experimented on them - may be there is a height clearance issue, but then SBS Transit should try to re-org the buses so that the high capacity ones get the DDs.
My thread is basically to get a list of routes for SBS Transit through our experience where it should deploy DDs.
If there is demand yes they will deploy. Like 243W.
To be honest I'd want to see Double deckers on 243W as a full day basis. It is still crowded on weekdays and weekends I still hope they will put atleast 1 full day Double decker on a full day on 243W.
People will argue that 243W is a feeder route, and passengers will not climb to the upper deck. I don't really buy into that concept and feel for faster clearance even feeder routes that have high load should use DDs.

Bendys on 103 were proposed but not implemented due to its parking constraints inside Jln Kayu Ter.
When 103 was handed over to TIBS, Nissan Diesel U31SCN (NAC), Nissan Diesel U31RCN (OAC) & MB O405s (OAC/NAC) were used. Later on during its TIBS era , they used the Scania Striders, ELBOs & Dennis Lance
When its bus services in the North East Areas (Sengkang/Punggol/Jln Kayu) were under TIBS, only Sv 82 & 864 uses bendies.
Jln Kayu Ter bus bay was too small to accommodate bendies.
If a bendy is parked at one of its bus bay lots, then it will cause a vehicular blockage of the exit lanes to Jln Kayu because of the bendy length. Also, it is also a tedious & difficult task to reverse back the bendy due to space constraints when leaving the bus bat.

Buses from Serangoon Interchange don't really require DD - look at 100 or 105 - the bus hardly is standing even in peak hours for SD, then there is no need for DD. But let me correct, 100 does have standing between CBD and Beach road. This is just 20% of the route.Routes of 57 & 131 should be swapped at Telok Blangah way to accommodate DD on 131.What is the loading on 143?
100 can be packed to the door where 100A plies. that is morning peak. In addition between Commonweatlth MRT and Alexandra Rd but this load has dropped due to CCL.
131 if any improvements would be to improve the headway during peak hour. under the quarterly review 131 has added 2 split shift buses since it started.
loading on 143 is pretty dynamic. part of the reason lies whether is there any bus of a difference service in front going to the same destination.

The Nissan UDs (be it NAC or AC SCNs or RCNs ) were never deployed on both 82 and 103 when newly handed over to Tibs, they only appear as cameos. The fleet made up mainly of NAC and AC Merc 0405s with a few Scania Strider perms (TIB664S and TIB668G did 103 and 82 respectively if I am not wrong)..
Whereas for 59 and 163 which were FAC status when Tibs took over, full fleet AC Scania Striders were deployed.
Not sure for services 214E and 214W whether they used the NAC Nissan U31SCNs or NAC Merc 0405s for a start.
Lances were later introduced on 59 and 163, followed by 103, in 1998-1999 era.

LAs ever did 103 during those SBS days before it was handed over to Tibs in Dec 1995. However no DDs made a comeback when 103 went back SBS in Dec 1999.

If I become minister I only allow SBS and SMRT to have Wright, Citaros and MAN bus!!!

Are you saying that he edited the picture? Or you are referring to his improper usage of phrases (because the sign is not actually known as a height restriction sign)?

You said that 103 did have U31SCN perms in 1998/1999 before in another thread (just before they were handed back to TIBS). Why are you saying no perms on 103 now?
As for 214E and 214W, they used NAC O405s.

you still dun get it?
He's implying so people trying to challenge that signboard is fake when a B10M can clear with lots of height room to spare?
