if it loops at bedok...
854's route
new upp changi rd
bedok nth ave 3
bedok nth st 1
bedok nth ave 1
new upp changi rd
854 return route
Haiz.......I would love to know what plant you people grow and makan on.

I haven't really noticed as I had been there once. The ones in the old interchange weren't fully utilised, most of the time only one bendy bus parked and another single decker beside it. Waste of space as the slot can be converted into a 3rd parking slot for other buses. Bedok parking lots were quite crowded.

Most likely will become a full single decker fleet service which I hope with better frequencies during peak hours.

You haven't seen 854 @ Bedok at peak hour.
I'm 110% sure, since you called it a waste of space, when I actually thought its a lack of space.

I would prefer to use that space to park another single decker to increase the frequeny and the loading capacity of 854 instead.
Be it DD or bendy, their standard of maintenance may not improve. They need new management inside.
Look at the bendies, some overworking, not enough rest. What about those poor bendies who run NR7 on weekends? They should really deserve better maintenance if possible... Just feel sorry for those bendies..
Look at our roads. More and more cars. U think it's easy for a bendy to filter from lane 3 to lane 1? In my opinion bendies are more feasible for intratown/feeder services, whereas for trunk like 190 851, DD would suit best.
Surely, if u got a chance to not move up a DD on a feeder service because it's just a few stops, u would definitely stay at the lower deck... That's when bendies come in place to solve that problem.
But overall, SMRT Buses Ltd needs alot of revamping. Management, maintenance are some of the key factors to consider.
What I can say about SMRT Buses in a positive way is that, it is really nice to have those announcements that requests paxs to move to the rear. A solution for those PRC drivers who do not know how to speak english very well. Also another thing is the PIS system. And that's all for now..
PIS ? They didn't bother to put road name for some of the stops. Imagine put as blk 19?

If there are no WAB bendies to replace the current ones (unlikely), the most SMRT can do is to do 2-to-1 replacement in my opinion... SMRT is DEFINITELY not ready for DD.
SMRT needs to take decisions NOW to have DDs in future. It is not impossible, the management just needs foresight.
I'm seeing more repainted and shiny SMRT buses nowdays..
I don't want to see DDs for SMRT.

What a non-progressive statements is that??? Just because of your fantasies, you don't want to see DDs on SMRT???
I want to see DDs on 190, 188, 963, 854, 106 in the next 2 years for the sake of people.

If they really want to have DDs in their fleet, they must be willing to invest more money on maintenance facilities for the DDs.... I agree that SMRT is not ready for DD.. But it would be nice if they had a few.

1. People say SMRT not ready for DD, impossible to have DD.
2. People say SMRT won't buy new WAB Bendys to replace the old ones.
3. People say want see DD on SMRT services.
Only solution is to hand those services to SBST...

Bendy can carry more people -.-
Originally posted by SBS 6078 M:Bendy can carry more people -.-
Yeah it's true. Bendies can carry more people BUT...
1. People doesnt move to the rear.
2. People complain no seat.
3. Peoplw doesnt give up seat.
This few points already justified...
But Bendies can be deployed on feeder services.
Hope SBST and SMRT will merge...
Stupid PAP say merge merge then got SBST. Then SMRT pop out of nowhere and conquerored TIBS...

I'm just giving my opinions. What's wrong with that?
Just because of your fantasies, you want to see DDs on SMRT?
i shall just repost the pros and cons of bendies
Again, just my opinion, DDs have pros too.
1.80km/h(efficient)
2.Better acceleration from 1st to 4th gear
3.Elderly friendly for seniors who dread stairs on DDs
4.Higher capacity provided if people move 2 the rear
5.Faster boarding and alighting(DDs have stairs and narrower doors)
6.Feeder/Intratown svcs
7.Clear the height clearances.
Cons
1.Take up road space
2.Take up parking space
3.Overheats easily
4.Bad at doing 3 point turns, reverse turns and sharp turns(U-turns is ok)
DD=Save space and to help us block the sunlight on a hot day.(to put it simply)

no logic, replace the 2 bendies parking there with 2 rigids increases frequency and loading capacity?

Double deckers can overheat just as frequently as bendy buses. It all depends on the maintenance of the bus (which SMRT is quite poor in apparently)

Wikipedia says bendies are more prone to fire.
But, I will still love my dear bendies.

About DDs, the Leylands are more prone to fire because of the way the engine was designed, again, the AMDEP fire was caused by a Leyland and burned down SBS9888Y.

maybe. The O405Gs and Citaro Gs seem to go down in flames alot... not just here but in places like London...

Park 2 bendy buses - 280 commuters
Park 4 single buses - 320 commuters
4 buses with better frequencies, rather than 2 buses wasting the space.
4 lots can also used to park the single decker for replacement breakdowns or downroute trips or IKEA shuttle, and no need to park roadside and block the way of other buses.

No point since bus services frequencies are better nowadays and not enough to fill up the space inside and yet takes up more space outside.

I concur.
