Ignore that troll. He's already made a mockery out of himself and utterly disgraced the whole of the SG bus community.
SMRT will have bendies still for another few years. It can fix problems one at a time. First bring in DDs for long haul routes and cash on them such as 106, 188, 190, 851, 854, 857. Then use bendies for routes right now that have height restriction. Use a mix of bendies and DDs for feeder / intra-towns to see how the mix of bendies and DDs are coping with the load.
Slowly try a few routes with DDs only and see the loading pattern. Only after trials will SMRT be able to make the right decisions. Also it has SBST as an example that has done extremely well with DDs.
Look at the losses of SMRT with such a small operation (one-third of SBST) but losses three times. Why? Bendy maintenance is definitely more expensive and not yielding as good results as SBST DDs. Face it, my friends.
Originally posted by SBS8501U:Other services which I dun think can cope is Svc 66, which is extremely packed during PM peak hours.
All along Dunearn Road I believe the bus has been really really crowded. Two buses SBS8259U and SBS8343J came back to back today and both of them are fully packed.
Just an example - Do note I mentioned nothing about Svc 66 receiving bendies
66 is coping well with SDs because there is a bus every 06 mins. For services, where DDs cannot be deployed, SBST is using its SD resources. But having DDs in its fleets gives it an opportunity to make 65 full fleet DD with 08-10 min frequency.
If all high loading buses come at 05-06 min frequency, no road space. The license to buy a car will go 10 times higher

Not feasible to maintain 2 kinds of models in the long term, as mentioned by carbikebus. However your scenario is best describing what SMRTB should do in the next few years if they are really serious to improve their bus operations. Gradually bring in double deckers and pharse out the use of bendy buses and reduce their losses in the long term.

If bus routes are really that frequent there is no reason for us commoners to own a car anymore. In fact, maintaining a car can be rather expensive in the long run. A side note, Formula 1 website's profile of Singapore states that there is no need to hire a car when visiting the Lion City because buses and trains run at such frequent intervals.

6min headway for 66? min scheduled is 8min.

Not really true.
It still depends on each individual. Not everyone likes/wants/depends on public transport everyday.

SMRT freq sucks.
Was waiting at 1 stop before bugis Int for either 851(preferred) or 980
SMRTConnect said 851 timings are:

SMB228X also pwned himself… keep on saying Citaro…
say 179.. 28 ADD… Need 48 Citaro to ferry the same capacity… where to get enough BC???
Dun tell me Citaro G.. Bt Panjang Temp Int is planned by LTA as though BPJ is using 12m buses… LTA’s planning dun have thing for Citaro G…
Plus Euro VI need to pay 15 bucks more of USD.
228X might think very cheap.
But he want so many quantity call cheap?
Plus Itr I 'played' SMRTConnect on 980, which I boarded, and found out that bus only arrived 22mins ltr, and not to mention, it is a citaro.

SMRTConnect said 851 timings are:
- 4mins(WAB)
- 16mins(WAB)
980 is:
- 6 mins(WAB)
- 18 mins(WAB)
In the end after 4 mins they said
- 851:
- 12 mins(WAB)
- 24 mins(WAB)
- 980:
- Arr(WAB)
- 8 mins(WAB)
This call better frequency?
Same goes for Iris which shows 17mins for sv88

SMRT seems to have a better headway, but it gets so inconsistent i usually get fed up with that trash company, both MRT and bus wise.
Bring back MRTC and TIBS please!!! For everyone's good!!!
Wrong bro,SBST is the one having good headways.Simple reason they conduct timing survey once every 4 weeks unlike SMRT.Their style of bus deployment also sucks big time.853 9 starters 7 split which most split shift ended before 9.30am.Then what about elderly or those working after 10?Wait long2 20 mins per bus?Only good thing SMRT seldom reduce fleet unlike SBST.Instead if they think there're too many starters they just convert it into split duties..

Purely my experience, whether SMRT frequency sucks u decide
At Lor 1 Geylang Terminal I missed a 980 CAC, have to wait for 15 mins then SMB132M and SMB306Z came back to terminal.
Another 10 minutes passed before SMB132M drove off as off service and SMB306Z came to fetch me.
Total waiting time: 25 minutes
SBST has better frequencies than SMRT, but the best frequency is with 190. In the morning peak, you can see buses every 03-04 mins.
Currently best freq for Smrt:187/190/854/969

854 I waited for 13 mins at YCK road and it is a packed rigid summore.
27 I waited for 7 mins at Tamp Ctrl and its a packed rigid of course.
I was very angry because people at sgf told me that this service has 2.5 min frequency and headway 0.5 min.
Usually it's not,Probably wrong timing at the wrong location.
