TIBS is TIBS
SMRT is SMRT
don't cook rojak ...
or i will send 228X into the dump ...
Citaros are quite expensive... Doubt SMRT would buy them. Only if Mercedes/C&C could give them a good deal like how MAN/STK did, I think they will stick to chassis + Gemilang bodywork.
And please, don't stereotype Gemilang. The quality is quite good now IMO, much better than the previous products like OC and KUB. It's much cheaper and faster to get spare parts in case anything happens also.
If SMRT buy new bendies, same length issue.
But at least maintainence is better. Problem with the current ones is actually maintainence issues and reaching midlife. Hope they get Enviro500 and MAN NG363F A24 or OC500UA.
BTW, bendies are not deregistering in 2017, but 2021. If lifespan extended then 2023-2024.

Is this part of the reason why SMRT chooses to buy more MANs and only 50+ Citaros including SMB136C for trial??

He is referring to MK1 bendies with lifespan extensions (the last few MK1 bendies are registered in 1998) or MK2 bendies without lifespan extensions.

You never check The Double Decker Bus Fan Club ah? He even mentioned "LO3X rocks!"
in terms of getting bendy buses, the MAN NG363F (A24) is still by far the superior choice in terms of drivability, quality, maintenance and cost.

From what I heard MAN gave them a juicy deal but they had to buy Citaros at a more expensive price per bus than SBST. Saved them from buying tons of Citaros and lots of problems, looking at how shitty Citaros are now...

You all sounds like you don't like Citaros, negative influence by SMB228X?
I doubt they will keep non WAB till 2021,I can assure you that by 2015 MKI,2,Volgren and a few Habits will go off once the high capacity buses comes in.Good examples the Lances and Scanias

i dont like them either, so do the mechanics and some drivers i spoke to. lots of complaints about it as well, the citaros are a loss making investment for both SBST and SMRT, especially SBST who has purchased lots of them

But MAN is still new after two years they will become like KUB!!!! German bodywork is still the best!!!
Citaro have no problems what problem are u talking about???? If SMRT don't like Citaro they will not buy two batches so SMRT will buy third batch n Citaro Gs Euro VI!!!

Citaros have lousy and noisy aircon

I also don't like the Citaros as well. SBS Transit should have bought Volvo single-decks instead.
Citaros are horrible. I hate the way the seats are. The K230UB are so much better. I think SBST made the dumbest decision to bring in Citaros.
The SMRT MAN buses are definitely better. Somewhere, SMRT scores over SBST ;)

Citaros overall is good but MAN buses soon you should know their standards of mantaining buses,
Woah... Negatively influenced by SMB228X...

Citaro isn't as good as you think. Maybe it is good for low-to-medium capacity feeders but surely not trunk routes. Poor layout and engine. Drivers always have to constantly floor them, which creates more noise and heat especially at the back, in addition to its lousy aircon. The drivers I spoken to generally prefer the MAN over the Citaro.
No I'm not negatively influenced by that bastard. He should go to Germany or somewhere to fap and jerk off everyday with his Citaros.
MAN NL323F A22

You do have a point there though...
Better still, SMB228X can just go and marry a citaro and live with it forever. That citaro is SBS6129A(a.k.a. Citaro Ambulance)!!!
This is interesting.
The original thread name is "Double Deckers for SMRT"
And we sidetracked to Citaros!
Just now took a Citaro on 82 the driver keep flooring the accelerator and then brake damn hard when approaching bus stops and red light. An elderly woman almost fell down
