You can have bendies... not saying no to it... but don't give stupid reasons for having bendies over DDs
Not saying invalid, but don't be biased.
Yes we acknowledge that you support continuing using bendies.
But please don't flame anyone just because he has different views, please speak calmly.
Dear BusAnalyzer,
Please take more bendies on the feeders/intratowns. I admit I also have to take more DDs by the way. Please do not get me wrong, I know you're recommending DDs and not saying no to bendies.
Cheers,
TIB 501 D
Guys, please remember that you are supposed to make friends in SGForums, not make enemies or flame at anyone.
Flaming anyone can be harmful, not only bad to the target, but also annoying to the others viewing this forum.
Alright, let's get back to topic.

AMDEP need more spare bendies. My TIB1231B, TIB1232Z and TIB1075K went missing for few days already. That's why you see more rigids on 806, 811 and 812..

Man, you live where I would have loved to. Bukit Merah, the home to multiple DD routes - 5, 14, 132, 147, 153, 196, 197, 198. And I guess the only bendy route there is 176 and 851.
I'll tell you what I like about joyriding on DDs. Good view from the upper deck and you can actually count the number of people alighting and boarding on every stop which I love doing to understand the loading pattern of buses. You can still do it on Citaros and KUBs but it is impossible to do it on bendies. Have tried it so many times. Also when a bendy is crowded you dont get to see a good view of the road and where you are heading.
Anyway, these are personal reasons why I like joyriding on DDs but apart from that also I feel DDs definitely have practical advantages. You should take DDs - you might soon start a DD fan page :)

I NEVER said not to use bendies. All I am saying is that DDs are also doing well on feeders / intra towns. And at Woodlands, I feel few routes should be converted to DD to avoid congestion at the interchange, where bendies hog so much space and create long queues and delays.

and then i see 161 and 168 dds taking 5 odd minutes to upload their full loads and hogging up alighting berths while the feeder bendies can finish unloading their pax within 2 minutes. like what some others said, please observe. and i will also say that bendies are doing extremely well on feeders / intra towns and i do not see the need to change the fleet anytime soon.

I used to live in an area with DDs - 86, 88, 89, 136, 161
And Zero bendies...
Now, it's the other way round...

I love bendies but our current infrastructure nowadays and the current vehicle growth making it more eyesore with other road users..Im an ex SBST and SMRT driver and I ride or drive to work.I see numerous ocassion where motorist are stuck behind bendy buses just because the rear end cannot enter the bus bay fully.Seriously bendy must die2 have powerful acceleration or else it would have a hard time going out from bus bay nor turning. As for me whether SMRT buy DDs or bendys it's their choice and I respect that,No issue but if really they buy bendies then the main priority is for Intratowns/Feeders and some short route services.Svc like 67/188/190 in future will have less bendy perm in its fleet.
Peace out from your Uncle

67 has height restrictions.
But have to agree on CBD situations. Bendies can't go there as the traffic flow there is high and roads are busy. Also, many other svcs ply the CBD and bendies tend to hog the bus stop (DDs do that too but not as severe). But comes to intratowns/feeders, especially the Woodlands ones, it's a total different story. The roads they ply has barely any vehicles at all, and people only take for a few stops. Moreover, svcs like 913 have super chaotic alighting situations, even during non-peak. I have seen the pathetic situation how Townlink 222 practically "terminated" at Bedok Stn: it took a good 6 1/2 min to unload all of its pax. And yes, svc 242 have been STOMPed before by some idiot for having standees clogged at the upper deck and stairs. You can see which bus can "save the day" and prevent all these from happening.
Also hope bendies can be deployed on svcs like 927, as there is height restrictions at Mandai and Mandai is not that packed, trust me.
Double deckers carry more pax than bendies
Seating capacity: 82 to 85
Standing capacity: 50 pax
Max capacity: 130 pax but mostly 120 pax is what it is.
For bendies
Seating capacity: 57 to 60
Standing capacity: 50 pax (including the joint area)
Max capacity: 110 pax
Bendies have smaller corridors, whereas DDs (Wrights have) 2 parking spaces for wheelchairs and a big standing area. This standing area is similar to that of the joint between bendies, where there is nothing to hold and very uncomfortable to stand.
Most often bendies can carry only 100 pax.
Both in terms of comfort (seating space) and number of pax - DDs are better.
Yes bendy has one huge advantage: an extra door. But while boarding it is still one door!!!
CBD all they can do is limit the number of bendies. For instance svc like 190 in future they dun need 27 bendies out of their 38 fleets.Probably only 15 will do if they decided to buy bendies..On the other hand the pax also need to play a role in moving in at least to the three quarter of the rear. You know Singaporeans we give SD complain say bus cannot handle loads but you give them bendy or DD dun bother to move in or go upstairs.Dunno what they're thinking as if the fare they pay they expect that the buses belong to theirs.Feeders and Intratown I admit its best to have bendies but again we will have to wait for SMRT decision.
how about a dedicated space for buses?
as for bendies or DDs, depends on the operators ...
how you make?

Lol really fail eh u. Buay song still must geh kiang go rebutt me with boarding door. So? DD also one boarding door only wat!
Wad u dunno that bendies got standing space also meh? Do u noe y SMRT removed the seats for some of the EWL C151s? Basically, the joint area of bendies is like the stairs of DD, only DD stairs can't take standees.
Wrights got TWO Wheelchair bays? What a joke!!! Thx for making me having the laugh of the day BTW. Dunno how count? A bay is big u noe. And yes, when bendies WAB come by, u will see the same benefit on bendies.
Bendies 50 pax??? Wow how often u take bendies boy? Please lah, the length of bendies are 3/2 the length of DDs leh.
I mean please lah, even trunks DDs like 86 have an empty upper deck when leaving the interchange. U wan talk about SMRT feeders? Please GTFO. CBD I can still accept this argument, but bendies are bought for the feeders and svcs like 67, and no pathetic DDs are available for your absurd requests as they are busy on svcs like 190. TYVM.

Dont whack for the sake of whacking. Have you used a DD on 86? The loading is super high on YCK Road (Motorolla, ST Electronics, Jalan Kayu) towards YCK MRT. And in the opposite direction to cater to HDBs in Jalan Kayu / Sengkang area.
People on 86 have a comfortable ride back home compared to on 190. So stop talking crap.

86 is not a DD for SK. It has DDs for Jalan Kayu and YCK Road. Please get your facts right.
You wont see many people boarding 80 and 87 at SK as well - so now you will say that even they shouldn't be DDs. What reasoning!!! Makes me laugh.
