Look at those rain trees.... It is the no.1 enemy to DDs.
They are found in- WDL Rd, Upp Bt Timah Rd, Dunearn Rd, Telok Blangah Way, Henderson Rd, Depot Rd, PK Estate, and Upp Aljunied Rd.
Henderson Rd is the most absurd one, the branches are SOOOOO low...
Those trees are like a national heritage leh.
some of the SMRT bus services might be remove due to DTL. I think SMRT should get new bendies bus for it feeders bus service in HDB town.
Maybe SMRT also come out new service to those area where no MRT can reach or need to change many trian line before reaching home or office and high demand of people.
example service 966 I think this service can pull to service people between woodlands, bukit panjang and kakit bukit area where many offices in the area. instead of parkway not really high demand. this way DD bus can be deployed.
even with DTL operating i think the demand still be high due to the service travel on expressway
Bus services should retain given the MRT breakdown issues we are facing. With the numbers of foreigners and new citizens pouring in I see no reasons they have to cut more bus services..
LTA must tailor new bus service for DTL 1 2 and 3 now before it too late and make it in a mess in the coming years. DTL is operated by SBST, so SMRT and LTA should come a plan to counter the new MRT DTL. one way is to have more semi-express service and other way is to take over some SBST service in the east.

I dont think MRT breakdown is a rational reason. The operators need to know how to fix it and not let it happen. If MRTs break down, the entire infrastructure collapses. Buses are needed irrespective of MRTs but need to be rationalized to serve new towns and give more routes to areas where MRTs are not there.

Even if DTL comes in, SMRT / SBST should plan more routes on the lines of 5, 23, 52, 190 that are express. The loading on these routes is quite high. I am sure there is a sizeable population who would prefer to take one direct bus rather than change bus --> MRT --> bus.
More bus routes are needed to connect east and west suburbs through express routes such as BPJ, CCK, BNL to Houngang / Sengkang / Bedok

The trees dont need to be removed, only the branches can be chopped but only if required. Right now it is not needed - but if SMRT gets DDs, I am sure LTA will do something for the benefit of people. Cheers!

Looks superb.
The red and white colour of SMRT looks better on DDs than the purple and white colour of SBST.

61 - 2 DDs from each side. Total 4 max
67 - bendies (2 bendies from each side once DTL opens)
106 - 75% DD fleet
169 - 75% DD fleet
176- 50% DD fleet (move terminating point to Harbour front center or LTA to take action on trees on Henderson road) or 50% bendy fleet
180 - 50% DD fleet
184 - 100% DD fleet (branches / trees cannot be the reason why DDs cannot ply - decision is upto LTA)
188 - 75% DD fleet
189 - 75% DD fleet
190 - 100% DD fleet
800/804/806/811/812 - combination of DD / bendies can be used
851 - 25% DD fleet
852 - 2 DDs from each side. max 4 DD or bendy
854 - 100% DD fleet
855 - 2 DDs
856 - DD or bendy
857 - 2 DDs max
858M - full day service 3 DDs
900/901/903/911/912/913 - combination of DD / bendy / SD can be used
960 - No bendy will be required once DTL opens. Till then bendy operations
963 - 75% DD fleet
962/964 - combination of DD / bendy / SD can be used
969 - 100% DD or bendy
980 / 985 - max 2 DDs
If you check the other routes, they do not require bendy or DD. So most of the worthy routes are covered by DDs :))
DDs will perform terribly on Woodlands feeders/intratowns...
Again, their loading are in separate stages...
300 needs bendies...

Agree
Need 300 bendies..

Why would DDs perform terribly on Woodlands feeders / intratowns???? When they are doing so well on intratown 222, 291 and feeders 241, 242, 243, 334????
You better have a good reason apart from the same old shit that people do not move to the upper deck. What nonsense!!
You can have bendies... not saying no to it... but don't give stupid reasons for having bendies over DDs

Please observe the loading pattern of 900 and 901. People come people go. Where will got people go upper deck one?
The ppl on woodlands feeders are more than a DD can hold. As a result, people have to stand on the stairs when a DD is deployed. But bendies are different. They can hold standees at their rear portion and also the articulation joint area.
Also, please take a look at how WILD people unload at Admiralty Stn when 913 pulls by. People SPAM out of the bus straightaway. With only one exit door that have to cope with both upper and lower deck pax at once, do you think a DD can cope?
It is also the pax and the BC's adaptations and habit. That's why the SBST feeders and townlinks can successfully utilise DDs on its svcs. To elaborate more on the not moving to the upper deck problem, people may have this habit of not moving to the top as they know how painful it is to alight EVEN from bendies, LEAVE ALONE DDs.
If u ask me, I think DDs are better utilised on 700, or 857 as you said. Also can be well utilised on 853, as the load at Kallang can get real traumatic at peak. But for Woodlands feeders or intratowns, it's a no-no, at least for me.

I shall phrase it like that.
Bendy- More road space, SUPER FAST alighting and boarding(Takes 5 min for whole row to clear).
DD- Less road space, slow boarding and alighting(Takes 5 min for whole row to clear).
No difference... And people dun move to the rear of a bendy is NOT true.
erm guys 806 in off peak hours is low
but the weird thing is
929D cameoing 806 in peak hours
wrong deployment at wrong time

there is points where 913 and 912 meet outside ADM station
and both meets 911 at WDL CIQ
241, 242 and 243 do not do so

god, have u ever taken those uber short feeders? and the people who use those routes are happy with bendies, it allows them to get out of the bus faster, lesser problems of people hogging the area around the exit and the staircase, so let it be. don't fix something that isn't broken. lets not arbitrarily deploy DDs on any routes as we please. the bendies on the woodlands feeders/intratowns are doing just as well as the DDs on the services you stated above, if not better. maybe u could state the reasons why you think DDs will outperform and outdo bendies on the woodlands feeders/intratowns?

Even as a commuter living in Bt Merah, I have experienced service 302, 804, 806, 812, 911, 912 and 913. Not much problem really. Within 30 seconds, ALL passengers including me alighted from the bendy.
