3 doors DD is the most effective way to relieve crowds especially those svc with fewer stops but high load.Ppl got option to go upstairs if stops is more than 5 and down if less than 4 stops.

I like the way you have summarized the situation. Non biased, and yet depicting the true picture. I agree with you 222/291 and feeders such as 334/241/242 where DDs are used, a good number of people are moving to upper deck. You can see during peak hours on a route like 225 that has only 3 stops before it loops, the upper deck is 60% full at least in peak hours
225 actually no need DDs at all,Just add buses for both green/white svc.241 although look short but can be deceive by its journey time.Peak hours from or to BNL can be time consuming due to jams..240,334 a long route feeders.AMK intratowns should start using DDs too.Our dear LTA/PTC is very creative mah,I'm sure they can extend feeders like 806 to make way for DDs mah,Just my humble opinion dun blast me for this.

Hehe. I like your caution words "Dont blast me for this". This forum has become notorious for people behind the computer blasting at others
225 does not need DDs. True. It is a very short route. I would give those 2 DDs to svc 69. DDs should be tried on svc 268.

Fully agree with you.
SMRT must be practical and switch over to double deckers, and stay ahead of times
Unless their depots suchs as Amdep shift over to a more bigger ones then can talk about bendies. They also struggle with parking woes..Just look at AMDEP,Today standard is it justified to be called depot?I think Ayer Rajah a bit bigger than that.Kjdep already packed like sardines in a can,Wldep no need say but with the new bus park being built i think Wldep no need ONP at WRI ardy. The new bus park can easily fit in at least 250 buses from view.

Land is limited and expensive. I doubt they can get too much bigger land just to park buses. Government plan the land carefully for other uses too.
For all those who have asked me to make a list of SMRT routes that should use DDs.
61 - 2 DDs from each side. Total 4 max
67 - bendies (2 bendies from each side once DTL opens)
106 - 75% DD fleet
169 - 75% DD fleet
176- 50% DD fleet (move terminating point to Harbour front center or LTA to take action on trees on Henderson road) or 50% bendy fleet
180 - 50% DD fleet
184 - 100% DD fleet (branches / trees cannot be the reason why DDs cannot ply - decision is upto LTA)
188 - 75% DD fleet
189 - 75% DD fleet
190 - 100% DD fleet
800/804/806/811/812 - combination of DD / bendies can be used
851 - 25% DD fleet
852 - 2 DDs from each side. max 4 DD or bendy
854 - 100% DD fleet
855 - 2 DDs
856 - DD or bendy
857 - 2 DDs max
858M - full day service 3 DDs
900/901/903/911/912/913 - combination of DD / bendy / SD can be used
960 - No bendy will be required once DTL opens. Till then bendy operations
963 - 75% DD fleet
962/964 - combination of DD / bendy / SD can be used
969 - 100% DD or bendy
980 / 985 - max 2 DDs
If you check the other routes, they do not require bendy or DD. So most of the worthy routes are covered by DDs :))

67 cannot have DD because of low trees near SCGH.
176 passes under the 4.2m high KTM bridge at Hillview.
Yishun feeders cannot have DD ...
963 DD? (...)
969 Bendies

67 / 176 are fine with bendies. 67 will not need bendies from 2015 onwards. 176 cannot use DDs even for Henderson road, actually :-)

KTM bridge removed liao.
Now its only Henderson Rd that is restricting DDs on 176.
IMO, bendy on 176 is better, can chiong at West Coast H'way!

Novena area also, 851's Bukit Merah bound buses are always VERY CROWDED in the evening.

Actually 851 needs more bendies - the reason it cannot have many bendies is because it plies Tiong Bahru Road. The stops on this road cannot accommodate a bendy but still bendies are used on this route. I have seen the mess created by 2 bendies back to back at TB Plaza. Now you see very less bendies on 851.
It is another classic route where DDs should be used :)

Why can't 963 have DDs? Which part of Upper Bukit Timah road?? It hardly has 4 stops from BPJ on UBT road before it turns to Hillside Ave and then to Bukit Batok East 4 and 3rd Ave.

Should not be that much of TB road. 851 used to have much more bendies before it was WAB. The bendies left only when 851 became WAB cos there were not enough WAB buses and bendies weren't WAB...

Well, the latest was when 2 bendies were switched to 2 Citaros, from 9 bendies reduced to 7.
Btw, the bolded parts seem contradictory...

But no one will be able to guarantee if the 2 WAB single rigids (Citaros) will be converted back to WAB bendies, though unlikely.

The bridge along Hillview Ave has been taken off.

It is not contradictory in the context I have mentioned. I'll clarify.
851 needs at least 11 bendies (needs more) but cannot have because of TB Road according to me because it is already heavily crowded. But some insist it is also because of WAB reasons. Anyway, 851 can create quite a mess as a bendy on TB Road as all other buses queue up on the single lane road, and blocks traffic.

851 OCs replaced the O405s, not the bendies.

Should be whole stretch, UBT Rd between BPJ Rd and Hillview Rd has many low trees also, from what I observed while joyriding on a 963 OAC O405.
