4 buses with better frequencies, rather than 2 buses wasting the space.
4 lots can also used to park the single decker for replacement breakdowns or downroute trips or IKEA shuttle, and no need to park roadside and block the way of other buses.
Park 4 double deckers in same space - 480 pax
Park 4 single deckers in same space - 280 pax
Park 2 bendies in same space - 260 pax
From a utilization point of view, DDs outbeat the other bus categories.

ADDs can carry up to 131 people. So it should be at least 524 people instead.
I am doing a more realistic estimate of the people a bus can carry without getting too cramped up.
svc 238, sbst275 - any idea if with BSEP in future, LTA will deploy DDs on SMRT routes??
SMRT has some of the best trunk routes that are really DD worthy!!

190...
If, I mean IF, SMRT insists on using their bendies, let them do a handover of services.
maybe extra new DDs bulid by SBST will cross over to SMRT to replace bendies. Don't forget tax payers money!!!! We Paid for the new DD buses and LTA has to use for both companies.

Impossible. The purchase for the Wright double deckers has been fixed for SBST.
But hope SMRT will get Enviro 500s to replace the bendies.

SMRT can also order the same bus from volvo. but I think SD still better for them. by the time smrt get new DDs the DTLs already operating. So it a waste to buy DDs.

Not true. Even after DTL comes in, I think SMRT would still need DDs for 106, 190, 851, 854, 960, 969, 980 because the loading is super high. DTL will not take away load from these services.
The svc that might not require bendy anymore would be 67 and DD can anyway not ply on its route.
LTA needs to make arrangements for DDs for SMRT otherwise people in the northern areas will suffer once bendies go out of operation. More and more bendies have become already very old.

Current situation is fine. Better to stick with bendies..

The new bus interchanges are getting smaller and there will be more buses on the roads in future so it is more practical that SMRT to replace the bendy buses with double deckers soon. I do agree that LTA should give some incentives for SMRT to replace all of their bendy buses with double deckers to improve their bus services for once. That is if SMRT is really serious in improving about their bus services, with such arrangement as one good example to show us they are serious.
190 loads will definately be affected by DTL. But still it needs a good number of double deckers.

if there are DD for the intratown and feeder services, i guess the top will be empty as compared to trunk services.

Go observe the feeders in Boon Lay and Bedok.

Observed and as what some of the forum mates says, they are a total disaster especially during morning peak hours.
I took 853 last Tuesday morning when I was on my day off. I have to wait for at least 5 minutes before the rows of buses to clear off the exit of Yishun bus interchange into Yishun Ave 2 before my bus can even exit the interchange.
Most of the buses blocked the way and mostly bendy buses. One 856, one 812, one 806, one 800, one 969 and two single deckers 811 and 171 used up the whole strech of bus lane (Yishun Ave 2) outside the bus stop outside Northpoint and the one behind Yishun Bus Interchange. One bendy bus 856, tried to cut into the bus lane which were blocked by 3 bendy buses at the bus lane, which result it blocking the way of an ambulance on the 2nd lane for a few minutes.
It was at least about 5 minutes later that these bendy buses begin to clear the bus lane. Another single decker 169 also took about 3 minutes before it can finally let its passengers alight. It was chaotic and a few hornings were blasted at that time. I think the situation was more or less the same when these buses went into the alighting berths of Yishun interchange.
There is also a good write up on Woodlands interchange that the jams caused by these buses by one person here before.
I guess those forumers who experience these everyday and complain are right afterall. Bendy buses are not suitable for Singapore bus operations. If SMRT really want and serious about improving its bus services, then replace all the bendy buses with double deckers as I believe these bendy buses are one of the reasons that SMRT bus services are seriously delayed at times.
It doesnt take a genius to realise what kind of problems we would get with bendies.
The very most SMRT will replace bendies with normal bus like citaro or MAN A22. I think MAN A22 most likey for SMRT as the bus supported by it sister company ST. remember both are GLC companies.

If you replace bendies with SDs, it is not going to be able to take the load. This is definitely not what LTA is promising us. Imagine 190, 969, 854 with full SD fleet. Will not work.
I am sure very soon LTA will give SMRT directions to get DDs. For the time being, the bendies that are there can be used on feeders.

291, 222, 334 are intra-town, feeder services that are doing very well with DDs, and if you observe the top, it has a good # of pax.
225 which has only 4 stops, can also be seen with a fully seated upper deck.
With Woodlands / Yishun, the # of stops / distance is even more from MRT, and I am sure the upper deck will get well utilized.

My friend in Yishun says that he really wishes that DDs come soon - coz he is irritated with the # of bendy buses that block the road as well as bus stops, making it frustrating that it takes 3-4 minutes every time there are 2 bendies ahead to even cross the stop.
Again, the mess at Woodlands Interchange is well known to everyone and it is caused because of bendies.
Look at Boon Lay, highest number of routes, yet the interchange is so well managed - it is because it is dominated by DDs.

If SMRT dosent buy DDs, ask him to move to the area flooded with the most number of buses if he still wants to stay in the north. Woodlands, got svc 161 with only 1 SD and 168 with full DD fleet.

I agree with you on this point.

For some reasons, someone say the current Yishun Bus Interchange cannot accomodate DDs.
Bullshit sia..
You all never live in SMRT area what. Talk big only..
Before i live in Yishun, i thought SMRT are total disaster as what you all told here. Skali both are the same..
How come TIBS era no one complain here..
Remembered what happened to the CDGE on 21 and SBS9400X?
Look at out tridents..loud irritating brakes..
Still want get DDs?
People nowdays are so impatient..
