I think it is high time SMRT needs to deploy Double Deckers on its route. The bendy buses can be kept in the regional Woodlands, CCK, Bukit Panjang area but it should not be plied in main city area like Orchard road. The bendy buses causes queuing of buses and it is rather better to have double deckers deployed especially on routes 190 and 106. Your thoughts?
ä½ å“ªä¸€ä½å‘€?
I wonder this thread should be locked.
Why?
It's good to have a mixture of double decker and bendy buses.
I agree and hence, SMRT should have both - double decker and bendy. Not asking them to get away with bendy

SBS also!! Should not only be DD only they should get some Citaro Gs!!!
Seriously get a life la..

Stop dreaming about citaro Gs.
SBST is FIXED to ONLY have SD that is NON ARTICULATED and DDs that IS NOT ARTICULATED ALSO.
SMRT is also only using SD AND SD THAT ARE ARTICULATED. IF SMRT USE DDS, THERE WILL BE A NEED FOR A MAJOR SMRT OVERHAUL FOR BCS TO TRAIN TO USE DDS.
It will take 2 - 9 months for ALL BCs to be able to drive DDs as DDs are harder to control. So, SMRT will STICK to articulated and single decks, DDs-free.
Also the SAME OLD REASON why USA is NOT WILLING to change it's MEASUREMENTS to be the SAME as the rest. It CONTINUES to use the old units like inches, yards, fluid ounces and so on. Because to change, the government need to play MILLIONS of dollars - just to change.
So you get it? If SMRT were to use DDs, they would need to let all their BC to train to use it.
SMRT 永远会有层巴士的。相信我,有SBST会用层巴士的。
SBST有对它们有感兴趣的长巴士会买一个试一试。

There is no need for any DD or Bendy bus for SMRT just normal SD bus will do. increase the frequent of the bus timing will help to make the different. with downtown line coming soon and SBST is going to operate them so no need to have big capacity bus to be around for SMRT or even SBST. get 800 SD buses and drivers will be the best idea.
Another idea is to share resources from both companies to cut down operation cost in the coming years. sharing buses and a centre workshop will be the best idea in the coming years.

Then SBS and SMRT should get 800 more Citaros. SMRT should keep only bendy and SD!!!
If really they keen on articulate or whatsoever then it's good for feeders and short haul only
They should concentrate using Higers n King Longs now.

Yeah!!And they should buy all china buses to replace the existing Citaros in sbst and SMRT now and cancel the order of the 300 Citaros for sbst and replace them with china buses!!SMRT should buy china bendies too!!

UNCLE, CITARO IS NO LONGER SOLD.

SBST ever had bendy trials before and it proved to be unsuccessful, so u can dream on SBST having Citaro Gs...

It is absoloutely true with this :

Bendies are a bane, a hazard and a complete road hog everywhere on the roads and bus stops, bus interchanges and bus depots.
Stop bring any more of these buses in Singapore!!!

Bendy buses are also creating many problems on feeder services as well, especially those interchanges with many feeder services. Normally, they will cause a lot of jams and queues along bus stops and bus inetrchanges, which cause delay to other buses and passengers. They should be removed from the roads when lifespans are up.

No need to lock this thread. It is high time that SMRT should convert changing to double deckers. You told a guy off in the Scania topic in another thread, so why you want to stop people on their views about this topic???

It's not true.
Why SMRT can't buy double deckers? They should change to double deckers so that their operations will be smoother, more buses can be parked inside the depot, and less jams and queues in bus interchanges. SMRT bus services is so messed up now, and these long buses are partially the reason behind it. SMRT has to be practical on its operations and use the kind of buses that don't give them so much problems which yet offer them a chance to improve their services, not fanciful thoughts of trying to be different which in the end become worse in which what they are in now.
And if LTA wants to put more buses on the roads, then please get rid of all the bendies or else there will be many problems with long bus queues, jams along bus stops, interchanges, etc. Hong Kong bus system is successful in such a populated city, fast and efficient. We should look into practical ways to improve our bus system, not buy these road hogging buses for the sake of having them.
In fact, double deckers are more easier to control than bendies because they are the same length of single deckers. Bendies are hard to reverse, sharp turns, U-turns. The thing being different driving a double decker from a single decker is just have to be careful and slow down on turns and be wary of low height areas (if stick to the route, then there is no problem at all). Thus it is easier to train BCs. Training all BCs to drive these big capacity buses does not happen overnight. SMRT can still train them batch by batch, as SMRT buys new double deckers batch by batch to replace the bendies scrapped batch by batch.
Isn't it the same as what SBST and SMRT train their BCs to drive WAB buses 4 years back? It can be done.
So, SMRT can still change to double deckers and ditch bendies for good.

It's not for you to decide, kid. Stop that hermit idea of your that SMRT should switch to DDs for bendies. Just admit the fact you can't accept SMRT for who they are.

so who are you either to say that our infrastructure can continue to use bendies?
Look at Clementi, Sengkang, Toa Payoh, AMK, Boon Lay.
You live within the infrastructure limits, and not start throwing challenges to it.
like I'll say, LTA dun need to openly say I restrict or ban bendies, I just dun need to plan for them for new BIs.. This is Singapore style of doing things.
Looks like your cannot see far either.
Cannot accept SMRT for who they are? Eh, are they e regulators? So LTA or SMRT bigger over just is bendies ok on the road?
Kids

You are that stupid kid who should stop that hermit idea that SMRT should use bendies only. You don't even know what is happening now and what is planned for the future. SMRT bus can be greatly improved without these bendies. Even SMRT itself has thought of switching to double deckers. You are just one selfish brat who wants to see SMRT operations sinking because of your own fantasies. Infrastructure wise and population density for future only supports fast and efficient 12 m buses.
You want bendies, then migrate to Europe, kiddo
