Actually i noticed something peculiar about SMRT buses old yellow flipdot desto...
the bus route number is on the driver side of the bus.
When i was in EUROPE recently, i realised the route numbers are on the entrance side of the bus which would be easier for passengers to take note.
Then i realise when SMRT introduced their European buses to SG, they have forgotten to programme it correctly to be above the Entrance door which they have now corrected for buses with the new EDS signage

For Tibs era only the later - CSS DAF was programmed in that manner..I guess it was SBST that started the entrance side positioning in masses

Saw a batch 2 VO3X on 81 around 2 weeks using the old front desto which had the 'Tampines' and the 'Serangoon'.

Actually the very first SBS bus with EDS should be SBS997A, followed by SBS998Y. Then came in SBS1688K, then SBS2888T, then SBS999U, before the first double decker with EDS, SBS9888Y. Then is SBS2779A. Came in the Tridents, and then SBS9810X and then SBS9889U. Then in 2008 became the influx of permanent use of EDS, first K230UBs, Volvo B7RLE demo, MAN HOCL demo, Volvo B9TL Wright, and then the Mercedes Benz Citaros. Conversion from plastic destos to EDS then follows, Volvo Olympian 3 axles batch 3, then Volvo B9TL CDGE and then Volvo B10TLs. I suspect the Volvo B10BLE CNGs will be next. While the rest of the fleet will still use plastic destos till the end of their lifespans. -

Add on... some SMRT buses with new EDS STILL ve route number on the driver side...

SMRT standardisation is non-existent....
And they even go as far as to do it on purpose with their colourful multi-alternate-colour seats on newer buses.
Worse was when they threw in the "Doors are closing beep beep beep".
Honestly taking SMRT buses can be surreal.

Door closing chime is ok but those announcements are seriously unnecessary.
