Managed to find copies of it kept at library...
Seems like it's kinda of the basics of the bus ops today...
1) Bus makes should be kept to 3 for easier maintenance. The bigger the bus, the better. Auto transmission is preferred.
2) In the report, OMO was alrdy mooted.
3) SBS should follow KMB's practice, allow full bus ads.
4) SBS should have a sizeable pool of mechanics, similiar to the headcount in KMB.
5) Busy bus stops should be staggered whenever possible.
6) Buses were poorly maintained, proper depts should be set up. In fact, some NSFs were posted to SBS to repair buses in the early years. *But this issue however, was more stated in the report written by SAF (Singapore Armed Forces).
7) Overcrowded bus depots: fire hazards.
Ironically, one of the GTO was Mr Mah Bow Tan (Engineer in MINDEF).
SMRT & SBS should ask SAF NSF mechanics to help out continues maintain buses. In fact most guys working in sbs workshop are daliy paid workers I wonder if SMRT workshop workers are paid by daliy or monthly?? Overcrowded bus depots: fire hazards i wonder AMK depot is overcrowed, two fire already.

To clarify
The overcrowded as in buses parking very very tight and onto the main road outside (that era)...
Something like CMB's bus depot
the buses park too close also a hazards

It's more of sort of a reasonable width w/ the available area you've for depots.

so the 800 new buses must be Citaro, MAN or Wright!!!
This report comes in handy... cos of SMRT's problem...
During the 1970s till the 1980s, the CBD areas, especially, there were at least 45-50 bus service (including later TIBS & CSS) that plies at a single bus stop, this has caused the overcrowding problem in the past, so they come up with staggered bus stops.
The OMO for SBS was under the proposal. Back then, KMB ones had already begun their OMO system.
Full bus ads in Singapore were banned by the ROV in the past. In the 1980s, ROV had ordered SBS to remove a full body ads on a double decker bus as it is banned. Only desto-sized, side & rear panel adverts were allowed.
When the ROV regulations are relaxed, SBS begun putting full body ads on double deckers, after a few years, the front body must retain the company's livery as compared in the past, whereby full body ads cover the entire body, including the front.
what is this "Bus makes should be kept to 3 for easier maintenance."? 3m long bus or what?? "The bigger the bus, the better." bus like DD or bendy bus prefer? Auto transmission is preferred, it reduce work load for the driver.
I think KUB design is still the best for people taking it, it has wide space, air-con is good the only problem people has to climb up one step to move to the back of the bus and the bus is jerky when moving. maybe SBST should t bulid new citaro here using the KUB body and people can move all the way to the back without climbing up one step like the new wright DD.

Tibs it's very own bus svs not many.. 850, 851, 950, 952, rest all from SBS.
Scheme B buses as well
Not to forget shortly after, SBS officials went to HK to visit KMB & CMB on DD and OMO system. By then, cross harbour svs was alrdy in ops.

Those days buses were abt 9m long nia... I guess it's bigger as in 12m buses and possibly double decks...
The bus makes was because SBS had to inherit 20 over diff bus makes from the 10 bus companies.
I guess the 3 is brands not length but not to the extend of 24m.Thats why we see many Volvos,Scanias and Mercs.I was hoping SBST consider Irisbus Citea 12m 8litre Iveco engine with 250hp/1100nm.Acceleration is kinda like the N113CRB...
Maybe that's why little Dennis buses...
Anyway, the state of SBS was pretty bad back then. Bus breakdown rate was > 50% and discipline within the ground was very poor.
Since its past was from the Chinese bus compaines that were family owned, there was no proper depts that's needed to run big company size hierachy..
alamak . NSF Mechanic ?
they dun even noe how to replace a water pump

TIBS was because it concentrates fully on the bus services on the north side..
As for the Scheme B services, they supplement the existing high capacity SBS services. during peak hours or on certain timings. These also allows the increase of the number of Scheme B services running on the roads parallel to SBS services, some of them is their own since when Scheme B services began in 1974.

SD's problem is where are you going to mount the engine like what you say.
Alrdy ppl are equally complaining abt the incline at the rear of the Citaro & MAN.
the higher floorin is not for the engine but for the wheels
