SMRT has settled on the land at Woodlands Ave 4 and Woodlands Industrial Park E9. Bus depot to hold around 300-400 buses. SBST will have its depot in the east. More details coming soon.
So is SBS Transit and SMRT sharing the same land? And they divide the land?
If SBS Transit gets the depot, then they can create more services to call at Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange. Cuz 161 and 168 not enough buses at all. So they should create more services before bidding for the depot.

From what I know, the new depot in Woodlands is for SMRT only.
I dont get why they cant share depots hahaha.
Bus Park..
Not built by SMRT or SBS, it's using gabrament's fund...

Yup, it's government funded. but what the reporter says was the woodlands one is for SMRT and the east one is for SBS Transit.
So chances of SBS having more bus services in the north is quite unlikely, same goes for SMRT having more bus services in the east.

It's more of operational issues as per status quo
I told you already, there is enough space for SBS and SMRT to get Citaro Gs from these 800 new buses!!

You know how big is the Woodlands plot?
It's only big enough for abt 200 buses, bus park...
I think you didn't read the news...

It is located at the industrial park area in Woodlands, it should be
1) Woodlands Industrial Bus Park, or
2) Woodlands Industrial Depot.
SMRT the new depot is for AM, KJ and WL buses?
I anticipated this for so long..Yes both operators need another bus park each. For SBST it's good choice to built another bus park in the east to supplement Bedok North.Probably the eastern depot could control CGA,CVT and Pasir Ris Svc.For SMRT side I'm a bit dissapointed that they have come to a conclusion to built another bus park at Woodlands.I prefer if they built a bus park near Bt Batok or at least near city areas.
But anyway Bt Panjang will be under full Woodlands Bus Park in future and Woodlands Depot will surely control Sembawang with Amdep partially control svc from the east as well as Marina Ctr.

Should be for WL.I was hoping they built a bus park near city areas to supplement KJ

True true, if they do build a SBST bus park in the East in areas like Tampines, it will help to share the load for services such as 36 (CGA), 81 (Serangoon & Tampines), 3 (Punggol), 168 (Woodlands & Bedok). Also possibly 39 (Yishun).
And honestly speaking, it's quite easy to guess where they will build it in the East cause there's not much empty land in the East to build such a facility compared to the Western side. I'm not blindly guessing, but it's either at Bedok industrial that area (which is weird if they want to share the load for services in areas like Hougang & Airport in the long-term & kinda pointless cause it's like applying to expand BNDEP instead), or at Tampines Industrial that area for the vast plots of empty land needed. Tampines seems the most likely for now.
hope the new depot at the east for SBST is like SLBP
can have more buses parked

Two bus parks to be built to accomodate new buses
SINGAPORE: Two additional bus parks - one in the east and the other in Woodlands - will be built to accommodate the incoming fleet of some 800 new buses to Singapore.
The government will bear the development and land costs for the depots, and lease them to transport operators at a nominal fee.
The tender for the
Woodlands bus depot will close in April 2012. It is expected to be
completed before the end of the year and can accommodate some 200 to 300
buses.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will call for a tender for the other depot in the east within the next one to two months.
The LTA said details for the second bus park are still being finalised.

Err, if you do read the article, I don't think the size of this bus park would be as large as that of SLBP. SLBP should theoretically be classified as a depot already though given at the number of buses it has, and just look at the size of ARBP and you get what i mean.
With Woodlands side got 1 depot and 1 bus park there's no need for ONP at WRI anymore unless they gong2 park bus plus and taxis there too.For SBST Pasir Ris after svc 88 1st bus stop from TPE is another possibility.

At least ARBP can easily park 200 buses anytime and only setback it's does not have big building and on the other hand AMDEP for SMRT should be called bus park!
Pasir Ris there fab plant.. tak boleh..
Tampines IKEA tat side maybe still can... Need to build access road
