What's happening now? is 2012, still have no updates about it.
Is the project stopped for some reason?
too many trees on the road and hills to go up???????
the roads around tanjung bungah, batu ferringhi, teluk bahang and balik pulau are so narrow and up/down slope... very dangerous...
Heard they are interested in buying 2 axles B9TLs with 310hp option just like the KMB ones
The plan was shelved, in favour of more single-deckers. A new tender for single-decks will be called soon.

In actual fact, Volvo was never really considered. The Volvo distributor in Malaysia has apparently called it quits for the bus market. Operators in Malaysia have been pressing their local distributor to bring in new bus chassis but was turned down. The Volvo 'die-hards' were left with no choice but to go through ComfortDelgro. Even the B10Ms operated by Genting Transport procured spare parts from Singapore.

Looks like MY only got Asian buses with cheapo-looking bodies in that case. What are the MYsians gonna buy? Tatas? Hopefully those come CBU with Hispano-style body kits since Tata owns the builder of Habit bus bodies.
From what I see, Volvo was only considered for use as luxury coaches and not city buses. Even the coach drivers weren't happy driving a Volvo as they said the steering was heavy compared to Japanese makes.
In general, MAN seems to be the main European make up north.

You should just go to M'sia and have a look yourself before you make such statements.
Volvo, MAN, Scania (especially) heavy vehicles galore.
RapidPenang doesn't even have a single bus of jap-make.
I went to Penang a few years ago and RapidPenang proved reliable enough for budget tourists like me. I liked their Chinese-made buses, but their Cummins engines are really sub-par compared to the contemporary European and Jap engines. That was before the KUBs were purchased.
Of course reliable to tourist = tourist doesnt mind having the last bus go missing and walking 8km (2hrs) to sleep after makan, refueling with tourist on board in bewilderment, being stuck for 30 min in a jam inside the interchange (!), driving like mad men in general.
The tickets were also colourful and nice-looking to boot.
MAN is mostly lorry...
I though they took a double decker Scania/SKS coach for trial before making decision and saying working together with Gemilang...........looks like.........sosad
Son B: Mom, I want to buy a new RC car.
Mom: OK, I will buy one for you.
Son A: But Mom, how can you buy him an RC car? I'm the eldest and all I got is a pullback car? It's not fair! I want a new RC car also!
Mom: But son, he needs the toy. You'll do just fine with your toy.
Son A: No! If he gets the RC car, then I will get one too. I don't care!!
Mom gets annoyed by the elder's rantings.
Mom: No one gets an RC car! I will buy a new pullback car each for the both of you!

Le me guess: Son B = Penang, Son A = Klang Valley, Mom = Government?
