Keep hearing bus drivers saying they do not know where to head to? No emergency drill?
Did SMRT contact SBS for bus? if not, why?
Surprise if SBS never send its bus to assist.
mostly KJDEP buses roped in
You sure SMRT will call up SBS???
Even at the bus stop got literal arguement.. The SMRT staff didn't let SBS buses to drive into bus bay os BSH Stn even though there's no SMRT bus in bay or at the rear...
Lucky the SBS TI was alrdy deployed eons ago w/ night sticks.
buses so packed!
SBST appeared to have full buses even till midnight. Earn revenue better.
159 also packed
Just came back from town not too long ago.
I was at City Hall mrt after coming from Funan around 7.30, wanted to go
Isetan scotts, it was
then I noticed the whole station was packed. Then there was an employee
speaking over the PA system telling people to exit the station.
I came out and realized that everyone was flooding the bus stops/taxi
stands. I decided to go to Marina Square to have dinner first to
try and wait out the crowd. 9pm I boarded a bus at Esplanade, big
mistake. The roads were badly jammed with buses. So many buses were on the bus
lanes back to back, I seriously wanted to just get out, climb on top of
the buses and hop from roof to roof liao.
The bus crawled and reached Dhoby Ghaut at 10.30pm, almost 1.5 hours later, After that it ploughed through the remainder of Orchard road, damn sad sia. I see every bus stop got like more than 100 people desperately trying to get on. Taxi stands also about 50 people each. Ion-Wisma carpark area more worse, so many people spilling onto the small road because no space to stand.
What an eventful night.
On top of that, there was a major accident on CTE NB, so even Service 857 buses were all stuck and immovable, along with private transport and cabs.
Were the fringe area svs like 66, 67 affected?

should call ma.. can still call drivers who goes off-duty to stay on and work OT.
Charge SMRT market rate..
Actually no pt calling all the S & E to do.. They still have to report for next morning's S shift..
Seriously, more importantly is how to take this chance to improve off peak bus ops. It gives you better flexes to pull buses out.
Also since it's the evening, w/o the MRT, the AMK (50:50), Bishan, TAP feeder load would be affected. Can pull buses out.
Ended I saw S173, S947 desto on the bridging buses.

S & E will be useful for one trip to mop away peak crowds. Disruption is like an unexpected emergency, deploy the buses first and sort the rest later. Sometimes no choice, worse come to worse give them off for the morning half duty.
Best will still be to have a solid plan on how to quickly deploy all or most S/E shift buses to the scene, quick do quick end shift. All or most is preferred due to absence of P shift in first wave who will keep normal services running. An hour later P shifts can start moving in on a second wave.
Ytd at Bishan overhear is throw whatever buses available at depot wo...
Aft tat dunno wat happens liao.. Even the City Square Mall Lance also got turned out aft it's usual duty

That explains the Citaro on 88.
but geela
End up Svs like 7 also packed..
so how is svc 190 yesterday?

First day living in Sg?
It's like that even without mrt breakdowns.
After this incident, SMRT and SBST should both sit down to come up with a coordinated plan on what to do if the mrt breaks down.
It's time those senior managers earn their salary.
This is the direct result of privatising the transport system.
1. Little alternatives. (Streamlining operations)
2. Little coordination. (SBST is not obliged to help SMRT)
3. Little resources to cope in such times. (Refer to point 1 again)
So who still wants to argue for further competition?
So how many engineers does smrt employ to monitor/fix the tracks every day?
Anybody knows ?
friend's father works at SMRT. mobilised to report back to work when breakdown happened. today work, came home and went back to work. left home 30mins ago!

Meaning what?
There is another problem somewhere?

testing and inspection all tracks maybe......

I think all the poor engineers will be working OT for the next few weeks as management will arrow them to go through all the tracks everywhere.
SMRT really needs a ceo with engineering experience, imho.
