miss the hinos

meet WAB requirement? how many WAB services they have since buying 134OCs? 8? if they are willing to do it, they can just put the OCs on certain service to convert into WAB service.. but instead they choose to put one or two each on each individual service...1 on 852, a few on 854, one on 855 and some other on Sv700/190/970/178? and for that Citaro demo, they put it on Sv855 since launch where it is not a WAB service at all?

Majority of the fleet is still TIB-era buses =.= right now, which has a younger fleet compared to SBS. Hence the 200 MAN A22s and extra 40 batch 2 citaros, and probably some TIB-era buses getting moved out for these new buses at the same time, then make it to WAB?
If they dedicate all the OCs/Citaros back then to certain WAB-certified services only, then end up there might be people complaining why none of the new 0 step easy access new buses serve other routes. lol. When the wheelchair accessible buses are serving on non-WAB, it probably can be considered as a new easy access bus for now for other commuters.
They've yet to meet the 40% WAB quota.. coming to over by 1 yr le
probably make sense why they might be removing some buses like the hino and lances as mentioned on the thread title and having the incoming MAN A22s and batch 2 citaros to cover these buses and increase WAB quota at the same time.....

Your dear 965 may get back Volgrens when more OCs go to 950 for WAB, thus replacing the Volgrens. Happy?

Haha if i am not wrong,it only did 811 in the afternoon i think.Cuz i didnt see it on 811 in the morning at all.If i saw correctly when i was at Yishun Int today in the morning,i saw it exiting there without ppl so i think most likely should be off svc.So i think it might have only appeared on 811 from the afternoon onwards.
The Dennis Lance buses when newly rolled into Tibs fleet in 1998 did not have a good start for the first 3 years.
TIB931X was the first bus to catch fire and was ripped off just 1 year in service. I also remember TIB936H that caught fire around Upp Thomson Road while doing 169, somewhere in mid 2000. For TIB941S also dun exactly know what happened. Even the UK Lance TIB1004R also suddenly disappeared, I remember it was a 980 perm. Heard it caught fire while cameoing on 854?
And it seems like the Dennis Lance buses tend to age more quickly as the years passed. Tough the Merc 0405s are older, they are still in good conditions. And if I remember correctly someone complained over the interior of the Lances when the news announced on the extension of old buses.

Yup you are right, the Dennis Lance is just horrible, engine not good, doors are lousy slamming everytime. Aircon is totally not strong and cold at all, esp during hot afternoons the buses can just be like fernance and the aircon ducts are just way too high to reach especially those sitting at the seats located before the backdoor mean the front half of the bus, i just cant even reach to adjust and check if got aircon anot even though my height is like 178cm..
Even the UK Lance aircon duct is way up the roof and the engines are not efficient sometimes, slow. Look at the all the Lances, TIB 1010Y for example, kenna so many accidents until the whole bus is disfigured and all are "plastic surgeried" parts and even the back engine cover also become got ventilation holes drilled and back EDS gone. Interior painted to green color instead of its orignial.
Many lances also gone thru "plastic surgery" as most of you can see thats why they are all so ugly. And lastly, seats are all so cramp more to the back.. Oh man.. I wonder why did TIBS buy lances in the 1st place?

Somehow I hope that SMRT can sell off their Lances to other private bus companies in Singapore when all the 200 new MAN A22s arrive by next year.
Feel that services like 980 should undergo fleet revamp. This service had been sticking to its Lances for a decade liao and furthermore AMDEP always tend to neglect this service when come to upgrading of new bus fleets.
I still remember 970H was one of the most unique perm that 980 ever had but replaced by those boring Lances when 970H got transferred to WLDEP.
Whereas look at 852, ever since AMDEP took back 5 duties from WLDEP, the situation improved much better. Now got perm OC500LEs and Citaros. In the past 852 also had a full Lance fleet from AMDEP. If only 980 can also follow 852's footsteps.

Not likely. I think that those Lances will be exported to Thailand and rebodied just like the ex-SBST O405s.

If the UMW Lances are to be sent to Thailand, I wonder if the bus companies there will continue to use the EDS that Tibs installed, or remove them and switch back to plastic destos.
Instead of retiring road-worthy vehicles and replacing them by new buses just to bring up the quota of WAB is just not the way to go for SMRT.
Fleet expansion is what they shld be looking at now.
And not Fleet replacement.

If I am not wrong 1014L was 970H's replacement not 799L.
AMDEP-wise generally I feel that they are more of wanting to make a good impression to the public with their fleets. So I won't be surprised to see citaros hanging on 852,854 etc where they are many people going to school/work.
from what i see, 908/911/935 are all without ezylink readers right now.. not reflected as lay up in onemotoring,

this should be the case.. the lance seem like having lots of problems. alway see lot of lances inside AMDEP during weekends (not deployed at all)... maybe they should convert some lances to PA plates (provided LTA allowed)....

Lances were not so reliable buses in the first place. Already got 2-3 cases of Lances engine caught fire in their first 2 years of service and was immediately ripped off. Somehow dunno why Tibs bought the Lances in the past.
Whereas for the Merc 0405s, all of them are still in good conditions and none had been ripped off as yet.
911D was the worst Lance taken.. Often the aircon blower is extremely weak and the interior is very stuffy.
TIB908P and TIB928G now officially laid up.
