bendies bus had disappear on svc 61.. wat a disappointment... is it due to CCL from HBF - Holland village sector ? due to drop of ridership? bendies on 61 goes into history?
other svc had declinding deployment as well such as 700, 851, 859, 980. Not sure abt the rest of the svc.
What next? DDs vanish from 166 due to duplication of 1-North-HBF sector of CCL?
like that Sv143 will be shortened? duplicate CCL from Haw Par Villa to HBF... NEL from HBF to DBG, then NSL to toa payoh....
Service 10 should be shortened to loop at Shenton Way.
!!!!
No.
10 is still the vital link between NUS and Harbourfront. 188 is not counted firstly because it stops outside KRT (small issue) and because it starts from Harbourfront Int (bigger problem).
I still take 10 from time to time. Simply because after having the CCL break down on me 2 times, I refuse to take CCL unless I really need to. The 1st time I was left stuck at Harbourfront. The 2nd time was worse, I hollanded at Labrador Station which didn't have the bus-stop in its vicinity.

But I take 10 to office from HBF every Monday if I miss the bus :(

188 should also be shortened to terminate at Kent Ridge

Feel sad for service 61. Remembered SBS upgraded 61's fleet from SDs (Albion Vikings and Merc OF 1417s) to DDs (0305s and LAs) during my childhood days, when route was extended to Bt Batok from Ulu Pandan.
Now SMRT revert 61 back to full fleet standard SD rigid buses again...
10 has to be kept, a lot of demand still.
61's ridership has been on a decline, for one is the routing, another is the erratic headways ever since SMRT tookover.
10's demand was never terribly high but its always been there.
Still plenty of people taking during morning peak and also I still see plenty of people boarding from KRT. Presumably to get to Haw Par Villa and even Harbourfront if they feel the aircon is good.
So I doubt very much SBST would do anything to 10. Besides IF they tried, the Student Union will kpkb and its been quite effective in recent years.
Haha. Then we don't have to change any routes, just keep cutting buses.
There's some bus svs that can be reorganised.. Like say 51, 143...
I mean from Toa Payoh rarely ppl takes it to West Coast. Neither do ppl at West Coast takes it to Orchard anymore with 175.
Furthermore have to take into account all the useless new bus interchanges.

61 also among those that got the first batch of VO3X. 9220 was one of them and served on 61 while brand new.
another is duplication with other routes (read: SBST's routes) for at least 65% of its route.Originally posted by sbst275:10 has to be kept, a lot of demand still.

So sad...
It's a pleasure to enjoy the bends at Circuit Rd on 61's bendies.

This one... Some is catch 22 situation for plying arterial roads like 151/ 154
Is the left turn from Queensway to Commonwealth Drive one of the factor for the removal of bendies?
The removal of the bendy buses from Service 61, from what I heard, is due to the Circle Line. Thus, they have replaced the buses with those ex-WLDEP rigids that were kicked out from 852 and 857. And they added 1 more split shift bus for normal weekday schedule.
1 side ppl adding capacity even w/ CCL, 1 side remove capacity.
To the company, CCL's off peak demand is terribly miserable.. 3 carriage still kosong, the fate worst than the not making money NEL
Sv 10's taiji is why... I realised why I thought cannot potong...
East Coast corridor is w/o MRT...
i think its also partly coz sv 61 is becoming WAB route wef 3 Dec.
None of 61's bendies are WAB till they get the replacements, therefore it seems that the move to remove 61's bendies is to meet the quota for WAB conversion.
And SMRT Buses inherited TIBS's rather young fleet back then....>.<

EC corridor needs 10, 12 & 14. When ERL starts, maybe these also kena chopped.
I don't know if sv61 really deserved the removal of all bendies.
If I am not wrong TIB1054X TIB1074M TIB1078C TIB1080U were full day starters back last year, and then one by one got removed, 1054X replaced by 20C, 1078C got replaced by 44J and stuff, 1074M got burnt and in lay-up now (the roster still reflects 1074M), and splits if I am not wrong were 1199L and 1120M,1075K and 1131G, and 1074M got burnt and replaced by 1012S, and now reduced to none (1199L,1120M,1075K and 1080U out) and replaced by rigids.

Only 4A and 44J are the WAB ones hanging around, I don't know how are they going to do it for both KJ and AMDEP side WABs, unless they demote the RWS fleet into normal O4s or they x-fer the O4s out to other depots and take the OCs in.
