It also duplicates 22, 53 between Serangoon to Serangoon, 147 between Serangoon North to Serangoon North, 156 from Serangoon North to Sengkang, 161 from IMH to Sengkang, 15 from Marine Parade to Marine Parade, 80 from Paya Lebar to Serangoon....*becomes breathless*
Wa so many duplications, conclusion: phail service.

43 also used to duplicate 48 from UEC to Tg Katong Rd. But it comes to more sense ever since 48 got extended to BNDEP.
The good thing about service 43 along Buangkok Green is that it serves as a direct link for residents to Buangkok MRT. Other services (109, 156, 159, 161) doesn't even go to Buangkok MRT at all.

From Upper East Coast Rd, it duplicates with 48 towards Parkway Parade, then 76/135 to Paya Lebar MRT, then 70/76 to Upp Paya Lebar Rd, 70/103 to YCK Rd.
Just so you know. Because I like to tell people mah. Do you, now, know? Quick say thank you to me. You want to know other services?
Wait wait wait
Paya Lebar was considered a heavy corridor prior to CCL's opening.
I think now it's just left to tar Sv 70's load at S'goon New Town ..
Unless you network rationalise the buses up

I would agree with you on this!
It is super packed in the morning & evenings from both sides (Serangoon - Hougang, Changi Village to Sengkang). And as far as I can tell, the road it plies has DD services along it too (2 at Changi Village, 81 at Pasir Ris Dr 1, 72 & 88 at Sengkang & Hougang stretch, 70 & 147 along YCK that stretch to Serangoon)

Fren i dun need to know when sv43 was introduced as i stay in the East, no1 in the right frame of mind[except me smetimes when i want to utilise tfr rebate] would take sv43 from Punggol To Marine Parade when one can take 55 to Hougang Ave 2[Blk 709] to transfer to 82,62 to get to Punggol, "cheaper, faster, better!"

As i still re-affirm this, WEGs/DDs on sv43 are a waste of resources when other HG services need it more...
Sometimes i wonder why not sv101?! 147?!

Yours truly by some coincidence, tried to get to IMH from Marine Parade by 43 yesterday. Yours truly had too much time on his hands, was itching for 43's notorious high speed dashes.
Yours truly was truly disappointed when the BC decided to keep behind the 70 in front the entire way so that he didn't have to pick anyone up.
And he drove so slowly that instead of getting off at IMH, yours truly had to stop at NEX for a pee-pee and take 101 back home whilst grumbling about the time wasted (include 15 min wait tmd).
***
I was jogging near along YCK Rd at 6 45pm when I saw 2 43 WEGs bunched up. I had never seen 2 43s together before, nor WEGs on 43. First bus was decently loaded, 2nd bus was empty.
Disgusting waste of resources. That point was further driven home when 20 min later when I reached Sengkang East, a completely empty 163 VO passed me by towards Sengkang.
Some BC dun want to overtake cos later he gotta pick the short haul commuters... lol
Anyway, the waste of resources has been the same problems why some bus svs never had ADDs in the past... Forward bound is empty, return bound is packed kind of issues.
He's not the worst.
I've had BCs who were so god-damn slow that fellow BCs honked at them to get them to move.
The last one I had, was no coincidence, 72. The bloody BC knew the light was in his favour to enter Tampines Int, refused to move, caused 2 buses to be stuck behind him.
Finally the one immediately behind sounded his honk for 5 seconds which was damn long and loud before he ambled into the int. He also kena rude gestures from the BC behind which he didn't bother either.
I think I told u before abt the run time problem I observed le right???

the North East Line or NEL is one of the world's first fully-automated underground heavy rail system.
Travelling from one end to the other takes 32minutes.
It opened its doors on 20 June 2003.
The line is coloured purple on the rail system map.
