Walao.
And even now my premium service also cut.
zzzzzzzzzz
They liked to put direct links to town, but kept cutting it because of "low demand".

Actually the CEO of SBST is wrong, there is still room for more bus services if LTA don't interfer so much, like limiting express bus services because of a lame excuse of duplicating MRT, drawing territory lines for 2 bus companies and limiting other bus company with more resources to provide better bus links and networks, refusal or slow advancements to upgrade and improve bus infrastructures to make buses a faster yet more affordable choice for commuters over rail, etc.
Actually, I think express sv wouldn't work for peak hours. Come to think of it. Semi express would rather be more suitable and able to serve a bigger cluster.
The PIE jam is horrid these days.

Not really. In fact, its a blessing to commuters.
SBS Transit would probably have better MRT frequencies to attract commuters & SMRT would try to improve 190/700/960 to prevent loss of ridership to the new MRT.

Well, tbh HDB is planning lots of devt in Bt Panjang now.
It'll come to a point the bus will no longer cope.
It's lucky NEL came in 2003, before Sengkang's devt became even bigger than say Pasir Ris, Jurong East, Clementi.
I think Sengkang is even bigger than Yishun alrdy.

from a macro perspective, govt's move makes sense.
"competition" might actually lead to worse results. especially if the competition is not perfect, it never will be in Singapore's case. the market is too small. but competing within the same modes of transport will lead to conflicts in (our) interest. the best solution is SMRT 100% rail, and SBST 100% bus. it is more efficient and there's still competition (think 95/96 fleet upgrade in lieu with KR Station opening).
there isn't a "best" solution actually. just trade-offs.

Then why LTA isn't doing anything to improve express buses on expressways than just sit on the problem and always blame the fault on traffic? SBS thought of the guided bus system in the 1990s, why not implement it along heavily utilized expressways that many bus services use instead? More flexible and cheaper than MRT.
Guided bus system never worked. I think the MRT report of the 1980s did touched on BRT and why SBS rejected it.
Seriously 1 way for now, is to try out bus lanes at 3 lane roads and it's of that mostly straight heading traffic. Too much filtering isn't suitable.

I really buay tahan the NEL everytime i take from my sengkang stn. six minutes what to do? sit there and wait till hair grey! and what bugs me is the PA. I HTE IT!
If you really time the train arrival time using a stopwatch, the 6 mins would actually be 4.5 mins and the 2 mins is 1 to 1.5 mins, and 1 min basically means train is entering. As for SMRT, more often than not the 6 mins actually means 8 mins.

I believe so that the idea got mooted again after you cleared a good deal of buses from the CBD.
But our CBD road layout (single directional) would end up seeing your dedicated bus lane taking up a lot of road space.
$1.6 billion is the loss made even before operating... haha

i use TPE's public buses when i m there... on major roads, the bus lanes are in the centre and they have nothing to block them except for the bus in front/traffic lights, it is faster and reduce congestion
ACx

LTA say that few years back to review and replan.. say to implement two years back? then wait and wait and early this year, amend 3 services and that it........ maybe after they review , they give up on replanning...

Seriously it's high time buses are rationalised...
It's been kept untouched all these yrs as population has been re-distributed w/ more towns.
The more we dun want to change, the more the problem is going to become acute in the future. As in, newer areas ends up forever underserved.

thats about 3000 new dds in bus terms.
but of course its not comparable, and cant replace trains.

Seriously what's wrong with SBST operate the DTL?They got the resources etc mah.Bus service 75% 25% rail while SMRT 75% rail and the remaining is bus network.Only hiccup is that the train are automatic,I prefer if got driver.

You didn't know? Train fans and some bus fans here are extremely pro-SMRT and anti-SBS.

like yourself? ahaha
SBST operating the Downtown line is excellent (in my humble opinion).
Why? Through competition, it is likely to make SMRT innovate and improve their bus operations esp in Bukit Panjang and Bukit Timah areas for fear of losing too many commuters to SBST Downtown line. Currently SMRT bus operations are seriously lacking, esp. service 67 on weekends, 12 to 30 min a rigid bus comes and eventually brunch up with a few behind.
Conversely, I believe with SBST operating the DTL, less SMRT bus services will be cut/SMRT not willing to give up some bus routes that duplicate DTL.
