LTA appoints SBS Transit Ltd to operate Downtown Line

hi,
now tat LTA had award DTL to SBS, i think SMRT might lose out more tat ever, since bt panjang will not be fully under them anymore. think LTA isnt fair?

DTL largely duplicates SBS Transit's bus network, especially in the eastern loop and also along the Bukit Timah corridor. This balances the loss of bus ridership to CCL.

if tat case SMRT shld operate bus routes along the CCL corridor especially the eastern sector?
if tat case SMRT shld take back ctrl of SK & PG bus routes in exchange of bus svc loss in Bt Panjang & Bt Timah area to balance the loss?

It's fair deal. SMRT has already have a large catchment of rail network but is managing it's operations badly. Poor bus services, under maintained buses, frequently delays on their rails, bleach of security of the train depots, poor LRT services, etc. Want to take on more rail network then wake up their ideas and improve their current operations. Just hope that there will be no major rationalization of bus services and no transferring of any bus services to SMRT. Don't let more commuters suffer by SMRTB kind of poor bus services. Another likely reason may be govt linked, strengthen another GLC in the portfolio.

Will bus-ridership really fall that much?I really doubt it.
147 is a good example, and MRT might be faster, but certainly less convenient in many circumstances.

wonder how they gonna share Kim Chuan Depot....
i still think best for SMRT to take back SK & PG routes in exchange for DTL loss cos i think SBS hav 75% of bus share n in future abt 40% of rail share while SMRT still haven increase its bus share

zippy and reliable.
but I don't think the current frequency can support the rising ridership much longer.

I really buay tahan the NEL everytime i take from my sengkang stn. six minutes what to do? sit there and wait till hair grey! and what bugs me is the PA. I HTE IT!Don't rationalise anymore la. SMRT trashy oredi still wanna cut, i miss express 501 and 502(eastern stretch)!

share Kim Chuan Depot? for? dun you know that there is a depot for DTL at Yew Tee Ind estate area?
why u keep insisting on SMRT take back SK/PG bus routes? if that is the case, SBST should take over BB/CCK routes first? since SMRT is operating the CCL.. SMRT is making losses in their buses operation. They wont be interested in getting more bus routes, except for those profitable one...which their CEO have mention before...

yrs ago a news article mention kim chuan depot for CCL & DTL beside gali batu depot. they might change decision now since SBS taking over.

Ah 2601, 700 n 960 likely to kena teruk. Can't see for 67 as yet. But 1 thing for sure, cash cow from BPJ is numbered.

Why need to increase their bus share? The current share they have is already poorly maintained. Not many people appreciate poor bus service standards. There might be more rail networks in future, most likely they might go to SMRT. I still prefer SBST to be fully concentrated on buses, and SMRT on rails, rather than this mess going deeper. Given the kind of management of it's operations and ruffled reputation it has now, better let the company scale down, or even better take over by ComfortDelgro or even Transcab. -

How can you say that? This is outrageous. SMB128B's comments such as the ones below are typical of exemplary comments that can be found on buses[in]gapore's FB page.
