I think the SBS Bedok Depot was at Mata Ikan?...
Should be nearer to Bedok Camp tat side
There was a Somapah Rd which is aft Expo where Svs 2, 5 & 24 plies.
Mata Ikan? I have checked the 1981 Street Directory.. can't seem to locate any 'Mata Ikan' around Bedok Camp area. The info earlier is from a friend who stayed opposite the Bus Depot so I don't think he's mistaken.
Yes there was a Somapah Rd after Expo. After Somapah terminal was abandoned, it became a construction vehicle park something like that...
I've no idea where Mata Ikan was exactly.. but a clue is the area was affected by Changi Airport land reclamation works

How interesting! 2 bus depots at Bedok area in the 60s-70s. Anyway the location of bus depot at Upper Changi Rd/Jln Tapisan Ayer is being confirmed by my mum. She also said that there was another bus depot at Kembangan area in the 70s that caught fire... Anyway, just sharing some info :-

We have slightly gone off topic.. :) "SBS bus depot and operations in the 80s"
In the 80s we had 2 bus depots in Jurong, didn't we?

I've done some research, from SSD 1969-75. No 'Sungei Mata Ikan', but there was a Mata Ikan Village. And it was quite far from Bedok Rd. Nearer to Somapah though. FYI :)

Interesting...
But was it a SBS depot or those belonged to the former Chinese bus companies???

Most of the SBS depot of that era was from the Chinese bus company one...
It was in the 1980s onwards they decided to look for their own depot lease.

That's where I meant. The only one along an expressway. It was demolished by the 2000s.
It was replaced by Soon Lee Bus Park. When did Soon Lee Bus Park start its construction?

Somewhere in 2000-2002.

What bus they use for 177 and 450???
I remembered they use Albion Vikings for 401 and Mercedes Benz OF1413 Soon Chow for 406.
How about 403 and 404 then???
Why no one knows the above questions???
Did you know that the Mercedes Benz O305 double decker is the only Mercedes Benz model in Singapore public bus fleet that never had its rim guards removed before throughout its whole lifespan..., not even a single bus...
