This bus interchange was shut down in early 2004 as part of the NEL rationalisation. The building is currently still there, now known as Kovan Hub.
The sawtooth berth has turned into a bus stop for services 112, 113, 119, as well as a terminal point for service 115. There's also an express coach that goes to Malaysia from Kovan Hub too.
The end-on berth side has now turned into an open space carpark.
I miss the place shouldn't have close down in the first place. At least build an integrated hub...
Still remember Volvo B10MD on 111 at that time.
Cheers.
Never knew such a interchange exists.

There is. The present Kovan Hub is the former Hougang South interchange which was closed down in Feb 2004 due to NEL rationalisation.
Hougang South interchange was also known as Hougang interchange in the 80s. There was another Upp Serangoon Terminal located at the road end. It was in Feb 1995 when another new Hougang Central bus interchange was built to replace this Upp Serangoon Terminal. In order to prevent confusion, Hougang interchange was renamed to Hougang South.

Upp Serangoon Terminal was closed on 11th Dec 1994 with the opening of Hougang Central Bus Interchange. It was an expansion of its bus services in the Hougang areas, as the Hougang Bus Interchange does not have much parking space to accommodate more bus services.
Initially, they want the interchange to be shut down in Nov 2003, but was given a deadline extension up till 15th Feb 2004 to vacate the premises for development purposes.

Those were the days…
165 initially terminated at Ang Mo Kio int, it was never under the old Hougang int before. The route was extended to Hougang Central in Feb 1995 after the new interchange opened.
New feeder 325 from Hougang Central was introduced in Feb 1995.

The above was in 2002 & 2004 respectively. 111 used to serve Hougang South but was long ago being amended to Hougang Central

Wrong, service 111 was cutback to loop at Marina Centre after the NEL rationalisation in July 2003. Hougang South was still operational at that time.
Or do u mean services 51 and 151?
Not to forget SBS997A was on the old Hougang South interchange on 62 before...
If I may add according to memory, I think there was a service 85 that loops at Sims Place or Ave initially but was withdrawn, this was way before this same number was being used for Seng Kang to Harbourfront. So there was the 5 trunk services when the interchange started - 51, 62, 85, 97, 111 & subsequently 132 that was extended from AMK interchange...and also 118 to complement 111...

I was referring to Sv 111 during the period before the Hougang Ctrl Int was opened, and which Sv 111 was extended to serve Hougang Ctrl instead of Hougang South on 11th Dec 1994.
Sv 86 (Hougang to Shenton Way) was amended to Hougang Int but at a brief period of time before Sv 86 & 97 merged together to form Sv 97 on 18th Dec 1983.
So the old services before 1995 there should be 62, 86, 97, 111, 132, 151, 321, 322, 323, 326, 327, 328, 329.
Demo buses served there: Volvo B10MD double decker, Volvo B10M Superlong bus, SBS997A.

Add in 51, 85 (loop at Lor 3 Geylang) and Air-Con 118 (loop at Tomlinson Rd).
miss the vo2x-es operating on 322.

ya. in fact vo2x-es appeared in almost all the services (321,322,326,327,328). esp when u are on the upp deck and the BC chiong along hougang ave 7, u can really feel the "breeze"

I thought vo2x only appeared on service 321/322?

Wasn't service 321 NAC then?
