One example is route 151, where 151e doesn't help, but instead contributes to overcrowding and long waiting time, as students from NUS, Ngee Ann Poly do not use these routes due to the high fare.
Originally posted by Vivianne Then:BTW, in other countries' transport system (London, Australia, and Europe), limited stop and express services are provided at the same fare as the basic service, as it is seen to ease the load of the basic services during peak time.
By helping to shed load of the regular services, commuters travelling to further areas do not have to take the same vehicle as those travelling one or 2 stop.
In these countries, the loading of limited stop and express services, and the basic services are level.
Pathetically, Singapore's fast-forward, express services uses the vehicle from the parent route deployment, but are always empty, especially on 151e and 74e.
This results in double loading and waiting time for the next
In these services, concession pass holders who are mostly students are double-penalised, because on top of having paid the concession pass, they have to pay an additional $2 to use these services.
Commuters on child/student card only need to pay an additional 30 cts per express/FFw trip on top of basic distance fares. For adults & tertiary students, that will be an additional 60 cents.
even though the time savings for 74e/151e may not be much or even not at all or even actually take more time... so long as people will pay and take it (perhaps for higher chance of a seat), it's there to stay....
It's not well accepted over here right now.
Simply because I've been hearing say 162 got complained why it does not stop at so and so bus stop.
You want fast yet you want bus to stop everywhere.

What makes thing worst is that SIM practices crash loading of having a big group of students starting and ending lesson time together.
151e does not add to the frequency problem as I do notice the bus arrives at every 7 - 9 mins.
As long as everyone preaches clustered lesson time, the tpt system can never cope. You can, flood the bus stop lor.

Do you even take 151e? EMPTY?
Do you even take 151 to start with? Do you know where's the peak loading and the rationale behind the "synergy" behind 151A and 151e? (Although I personally think 151A is quite a useless service since in reality very few people take 151A because of how the buses are released from Kent Ridge)
If you don't, you can write however much you like, and I'll consider it as junk post.
I can't write about 74e. I don't take 74e although I take 74 when I get fed up with 151.

Morning time 151e saves tremendous amounts of time.
Whole journey takes less than 1 hr even with the jam at SIM Uni.
Evening 151e is a different story...about 1 hr 20min. But then the regular 151 takes far longer....roughly 2hrs.
Days back took 151, BC kpkbing he's left with only 2 mins of break.
Woodsville jam, Bt Timah jam...

I'm from NUS.
I take 151e to and from Hougang from time to time.
My prof from NUS....also takes 151e to Toa Payoh.
You are not from NUS.
You don't take 151e.
As simple as that.
Don't complain without showing me the facts.

normally i take whichever comes first. 151 151A 151e all just get on i like 151A actually cuz it's always damn empty and can find seat...
I like how screwed-up the 151A is.
151A usually leaves soon after a 151 does so.
So its usually empty and it absolutely defeats the purpose of having the 151A...just like how DDs on 151 are empty or half-empty 3/4 of the time. If the whole point of 151A is to allow full-route peeps to enjoy some seats or breathing space or at least the ability to board the bus, 151A is just another example of a poorly thought-out gimmick.
But 151A is good.
Cos its empty, nobody stops the bus en-route, and it usually catches up with the earlier 151 and by then it should be less crowded.

actually if they made 151A leave just BEFORE a 151 does, it makes sense. dunno why they didnt think of it.
151A would be better off serving up till jln toa payoh actually. can help 151 A LOT in that case.
I did notice 151 has 1 time belt it's siao
2 - 3 mins a bus, be it 151 or 151A.
Hmmm... True also... But then 74 always got so many ppl... Haiz... I everytime cannot board the bus when comes ard 5+ from Ngee Ann Poly bus stop... Prefer to take 151...
its actually 4 - 6 min scheduled.Originally posted by sbst275:I did notice 151 has 1 time belt it's siao

Such slots do have 151A which are no longer indicated
ya 4 - 6 min is with 151A, without 151A its 8-12min. 151A starts as early as 3pm.Originally posted by sbst275:

DD slot at 1535 from Kent Ridge.
I like this slot. The DD is half empty throughout the journey because lesson ends slightly after 1535 usually.

I don't think child/student card can be used on Express/FFw, unless it is not concession card. In the past I had seen ez-link cards for children (which are non-concession cards) before all cards are changed into CEPAS cards. Not sure whether there are still non-concession cards for children.

Very troublesome as so many jams are there back then.

He was just making things impossible for us.

Seriously CEPAS is alrdy around for close to 2 yrs. It’s distance fare alrdy!
The impossible is the people’s mindset. I dun see why must bus stop everywhere if semi express is a good idea. You cannot have fast journey if the bus has to stop everywhere, you can’t have both world.
Students pay 30cents more when they take express or fast forward?
Is that the reality for those who uses bus concession pass?
If I have concession and still need to pay full fare for ffw/express services, why would i still take them?
At least let them use their bus concession passes, and top up 30cents for this services. Issnt this more reasonable?

like before DBTF, you have to pay full fare if you have a concession pass, but for those who are not on pass, it's just 30¢ extra.
