Stomper has no patience. We're in the midst of transiting from the old bus era to new ones. Those Wrights are being assembled/those Citaros are being shipped in still (delieveries are in progress)
Those old buses are okay with me. I don't see them as eyesore. I welcome them in all areas of Singapore.
they think new buses come at a veri low price or time
whoever who posted that on stomp deserves a big F from me.
It's like someone who kept telling the world every single day that LV is the best classy stuff that every lady should have.
And then get shocked when he discovered later that ladies are selling their bodies so as to have that LV.
nothing unusual..
every youngster is brought up in a modern, clean and advanced society, called Singapore. everyone has been brought up to demand new things, as old means useless or otherwise.
so many old things, being an "eyesore", had been removed, to be replaced by spanking new things, be it vehicles, buildings, equipment etc
and in such a materialistic society where everyone expects a high quality of life, and commuters paying higher and higher fares, of course people will demand new buses for their area. and too bad hougang is a relatively young estate..
of course.. since new bus and old bus also same fares.. which will a consumer choose?
nothing irrational, only realism
Older people may think differently.
Some like old buses, some prefer newer ones. So no one is right or wrong, so is the Stomper too. Like what bro 105090 said, "since new bus and old bus also same fares.. which will a consumer choose? nothing irrational, only realism". If I were to pay more, I would demand more, human nature.
Cheers.

Wapiang which ediat STOMPed this. By the way he/she typed out this, the person is most likely a bus enthusiast. I AM NOT SAYING ANYONE’S NAME OK.
Chey...............i tout is non air-con type....... Diu......
enjoy while it last
I can't tell if they are old or new. Some come with 4 wheels, some come with 6, who cares?
This month got invisible buses running on the road too
What a dumbass.
161's VOs are a superb fleet that peeps who take 74 would die for.
Time for HGN to be the new dumpin ground for old fleets. Last time it was the western suburbs looking enviously at the Tridents, VSOs and exotic demos from AM/HG/BN.
new doesnt mean good.
the bus looks perfectly ok to me.
LO3X, MK IIIs beat the Wrights, Citaros anytime!

I almost puke out my lunch when I saw this! I rather take the citaro and wright over those mentioned buses! Mark 3 are my least fav among the Volvo buses , glad they are going off and lo's aircon is weak, but they are not too shabby ! Still all of these buses are still better f lousy scania kubs.
haha wat a reaction, i speak from my daily commute with the buses as MK III's aircon beats Citaros anyday... esp those Citaros that are assigned to sv16, i nearly suffocated from a packed sv16 one evening...
LO's aircon weak?! SG's WEGs' aircon not tt strong if you want to compare...
IF you compare similar buses in HK, SG WEG CANNOT make it in terms of acceleration, pick up and aircon...
ACx
Actually.
The MKIII's shabbiness withstood the test of time.
Simply because its body design was already outdated when it was introduced.
But what I appreciate about the MKIII was how slowly it degraded. Still sounds the same, vibrates the same, same whine, no jet engine imitataion.....less the aircon. But the aircon is more or less ok these few years. Back in the early and mid 2000s I thought I was sitting in ovens whenever I took MKIIIs. And its body is pretty sturdy, the suspension is still the same (brace position required over humps!).........
I think each bus has its own definitive advantages, and the MKIII is a good example of quiet reliability.
All the Volvo B10Ms. I love them all. If only the fact that SBST can't remove the seats.
And the K230UBs aren't that bad also. I like the seats, the good aircon, its generous legroom and it can be pretty zippy too if the BC wishes. Truth is, if the bus jerks excessively, vibrates excessively....half of it can be attributed to the BC. As my favourite BCs demonstrate, the K230UB hardly jerks when you:
lift your foot off the brakes gradually,
apply power when starting up gradually to prevent jerky lock-up,
apply more pressure as the bus moves to 3rd gear to reduce unnecessary vibration at low rpm,
brake with consistent force so that the gearbox can shift smoothly downwards.
When you look at the list, aren't these the standard things you were taught before you got your driving license?
2 KUB rides ago, I encountered a terrible E4 KUB with an equally terrible BC who jerked the bus, kicked-down whenever he could (even on small roads), stomp on the brakes immediately after hard accelerations. Small wonder the bus was making all kinds of sound.
But of cos, the argument could also be that the MKIII suffered worse treatment but it hasn't taken to all these problems. The MKIII is probably the last SD to still see BCs opening the door before the bus stops.
old buses in both SBST and SMRT are gradually being replaced with new ones. be patient.
eh, the person who stomp this have no sense of nostagia when taking buses? never tought of what you always do in the bus when he is young?nostalgic right? stand on seats look other vehicle pass by...
