This is nothing new in SBS history. There is a reason why Ang Mo Kio gets the majority of the older Mercedes Benz buses like the OF1413s and 1417s and Bedok and Hougnag gets more Volvo B57 than other depots. Logic still applies till now.
In the 80s, AMDEP and JRBP had Merc OF1413 and OF1417 buses. BBDEP and BNDEP had Albion Vikings and Volvo B57s. HGDEP seems to have a mixture of both, whereas TPDEP had OF1413s, Leyland Victories and Volvo B57s.
Also noticed that during the fleet renewal between 1988 to 1992, the 3 buses that SBST bought then (Volvo MK2s, Scania N113CRBs and Merc 0405s) were depot assigned accordingly.

These 2 depots never had any intakes until at a later stage when the Mercs 0405s rolled in. Unlike nowdays when Scania K230UBs rolled in, all depots took in at the same pace.
The O405s were meant to replace the OF1413s right?
I remember the 1970s-style Soon Chow buses were the only ones without validators installed. All others accepted farecards as a mode of fare payment when the system wasrolled out in 1990.
